THAT was one of the FUNNIEST things I have seen on TV in a long time.
I just about fell over laughing at that!

FYI, the folks on the West Coast haven't seen this episode yet.

Re: Spoiler for you west coasters!!!

An "in joke" from the same episode had Bart and Milhouse getting an idea
from a fictional TV show, and they say how great writers of TV shows are.
"Whatever they're paying them, it's not enough!" * :) (hey, ONE former
Simpsons writer later became a success as a performer, too, Conan O'Brien)

*--speaking of writers talking about themselves, in effect, I remember a
Sat. Night Live show with Eric Idle where he mentioned the show's script
was delayed...again. "They take too many drugs," he said, sniffing.
(Then, of course, he enters the writer's room, or what's supposed to be that
room, and it's like an opium den. Probably more than a shade of truth to that too! But at least they were funny even if they were high!

Whoops, sorry! :) At least The Simpsons last night was funnier and a little more fresh than most episodes as of late. It'll probably end up being the best one this season.

Also, I would never have expected a reunion of Kirk and Luanne. I was expecting that they'd keep Kirk on his downward spiral.

Re: Spoiler for you west coasters!!!

Or remember the Simpsons where marge is going on about the writers and she says
"those tv show writers they make me madder than a .. eh.. yack in heat!"

Haha!

Too funny. Last night Simpson's was very close to looking like the mid season ones, and I actually found myself laughing more than once at it.

Family guy however, I thought was BORING.
(the ONLY funny line was when Quagmieyer was Sandy Duncan's eye, "hey wheat thins...")

It was OK. There were some laugh-out-loud moments, like Snoopy in the O.C. parody. The plot just seemed so rehashed. Over the past two seasons, it seems like more than half of the episodes have been about Homer and Marge's marital problems.

I think they've lost their sense of comic timing a little. The "I can't believe how long they're drawing this joke out" bit has become old and predictable, and it doesn't help that they use it 2-3 times an episode. There were still a few great scenes and good quotes though. I didn't think it was a terrible episode, just inconsistent, like many of the recent ones have been.

For the second week in a row, American Dad was the highlight of the night for me. That show just keeps getting better.

The OC parody was in my opinion the funniest part of last night Simpsons episode.

That was a winner of an episode all the way around...a decent set-up, good use of ancillary characters, a great spoof...of a Fox show no less...and even a great couch gag (they've been around long enough to use TiVo as a gag now? That's amazing).

No need to resort to crazy guest voice casting just to have it in there; the plot was largely centered at home on familiar characters, and the whole planted bra gag worked well.

Good point. This is especially obviouis since the "Marge leaves Homer" episode ran only one week apart. Marge just left Homer last week.

Someone needs to be watching the overall continuity. It's not necessarily a bad thing to have two episodes alike but they should've spaced them apart.

Also the whole episode seemed disjointed. With 3 plot lines... Chicken Pox, Luanne and Kirk then the whole thing deteriorates into a Marge leaves Homer episode. The others plots were not resolved. Not even mentioned to say they would remain unresolved to be used in later episodes. A year or maybe two years ago, there was a subplot where all the Simpsons kids got their vaccinations, it seems unlikely that Dr Hibbert wouldn't have given them a chicken pox vaccine. Just as unlikely that anyone, much less Marge would put her name in her bra? Why does she do this. So when she goes to parties it makes it easier to find in the big pile?

The biggest issue I have with The Simpsons is that it has become lazy. The writers know as bad as any episode is, it is still better than 95% of what else is out there.

Again how hard is it to come up with original ideas? Think The Lucy Show(esp the California episodes) and Here's Lucy to see what I mean.<P ID="signature">______________
