Tonite's SNL repeat

I'm just sorry I missed the original airing (which was probably fairly recently).

The host is Dane Cook whom I'm not familiar with but he did a killer opening monologue. Very funny guy.

I generally only watch SNL lately up through and including Weekend Update. 25 minutes into the repeat tonite and its alot funnier than the first 45 minutes or so of last week's show.

Last's week show actually started off pretty poorly even before the guest host was introduced. Did anyone notice how legendary announcer Don Pardo screwed up the cast introductions as their pictures flashed on and off??

Steve Martin hosts next week (Feb 4th). THAT should be a good show.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by WMC2005 on 01/29/06 05:00 AM.</FONT></P>

I saw the original airing, which was December 3. It seemed to me like his monologue (which was more of a standard stand-up bit than what I've come to expect from a scripted SNL monologue) ran longer than most. It also contained some material that was a little more risque than usually appears in an SNL monologue. I was half-expecting to not see this show aired again, but there it was, so I guess it wasn't a big deal to Lorne Michaels or NBC. Regardless of all of that, I thought it was great.

For the most part, I think SNL has been better this season than last, but last week's show was particularly weak.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Earlier this season (or maybe late last season), I heard him clearing his throat as the SNL logo came on screen.

Don turns 88 in February, and I know the man is an institution, but is it time for retirement? Or is he going to do the show until the day he dies?

Good point, I thought the same thing. The "cashew" bit was surprising but very funny. But it's late-night television so maybe the censors didnt care.

Same thing can be said for Bob Barker. Bob should have given away his last showcase years ago.

Apparently, Don took the month of December off and pre-recorded all the intros for the shows that month. Plus, I pretty sure a few of the cast members(Darrell Hammond for sure) are able to impersonate Don Pardo.<P ID="signature">______________
