Tony Bruno Moving from 1010 to 620

Rumors now confirmed; Tony Bruno returns to Fox Sports Radio on August 10 and takes the 10 pm-1 am slot. Thankfully, the unlistenable J.T. "The Brick" is demoted to overnights on FSR. (link to press release below)

Gotta wonder, with Bruno moving back to FSR, will 1010 start airing Todd Wright's Sporting News Radio show live (10 pm-2 am), rather than run it overnights on tape-delay?

Not so fast my friend.
1010 will continue to air Tony Bruno live. Not sure what 620 will air in that slot. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for a Sileo replay. ::)

Pretty much confirms what I thought would be the case. There are a few FSR affils that can't air Dan Patrick b/c another station in town signed a deal to air the show before FSR cleared it on their schedule, so they either turn to a Czaben re-feed or something else (one affil in Youngstown actually airs a 90-min boxing show daily at 9am, believe it or not). That's the added bonus of self-syndicating your show via the Content Factory.

It will also mean that Bruno's show likely won't be streamed on FSR's site, for the same reason Dan Patrick's isn't.

I'd rather see 620 flip from FSR the KLAC radio network to Sporting News Radio. Has anyone heard the network formerly known as FSR lately? Bru-tal!

FSR is owned by Clear Channel, so the likelihood of a CC station like 620 dropping them right now is pretty slim.

Likewise, staffing the network with programs like Dan Patrick and Bruno which are outsourced from the Content factory were part of Cc's recent cost-cutting spree (yeah, I know... one of their many cost-cutting sprees....).

WDAE won't drop them. Heck, CC has been pushing Fox Sports onto even MORE affiliates since the change to the KLAC Radio Network.

I don't think CC saved money by adding Tony Bruno since they're dropping an overnight voicetracked show to bring it in and replacing the overnight show with live content, but they certainly didn't have to spend as much as they could've by adding a new live show. Of course Dan Patrick (already distributed by Premiere at the time) was brought into the FSR lineup at the cost of Sheamon and Washington. However, there were a number of FSR affiliates that were already playing Dan's show instead of the FSR feed.

Which makes me ask....how come Jim Rome was never officially brought into the Fox Sports Radio lineup? Is he in too deep with ESPN affiliates' lineups? Right now FSR replays Steve Czaban's show from 12-3. Virtually every 24/7 FSR affiliate plays Jim Rome, but he's not part of FSR.

UPDATE: Last night was the first night the 10p-1a slot was open on the Animal for FSR (due to Rays baseball the previous two nights) since the "move" by Bruno Tonioli (as Todd Wright referred to him as last night) to FSR, and interestingly enough, it was Sean Farnham with a live show and not Bruno, and with a totally different phone number than the ones on all other FSR programs (Maybe the regular KLAC 800 line before they merged with FSR?). Must be on in markets (like T/SP) that carried both Bruno and JT simulataneously on different stations, and there aren't that many of them (here and I guess Little Rock, AR, since the interviews discussed the Bucs, USF, and University of Arkansas).

What's REALLY interesting though is that 1010 DIDN'T air the Bruno show last night, which means (and I'm speculating here) either someone at QYK-A dropped the ball, or they thought that the Animal was taking over but couldn't because I imagine affiliates that were committed to air "Into the Night" but not affiliated with FSR are still obligated to do so...

...or am I mistaken?

Mistaken.
I ran the board myself & was there til 1 am.
Why would you say we didn't air it?
Nobody dropped the ball. Management, engineering, and I.T. were all over it.
Good team effort as usual.
