Tony Bruno

He's been mysteriously absent two days in a row. He's talked about being a free agent a few weeks ago. Am I overthinking this?

Even more strange is that Mark Willard, his co-host has been doing updates during the show while the weekend Bobs are filling in for Tony. I sent both e-mails and got nothing back from Tony and a vague response back from Mark, just saying that "they" may not be on all week. Very strange. The Bobs did say today Bruno was "resting up" for his Super Bowl trip. The website originally said "Bob Berger and Bob Stelton in all week for Tony Bruno"..then later on yesterday it said they were in on Monday...now it says Monday and Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Bruno usually does his spot on KNBR with Gary Radnich in San Francisco at 10 a.m. every morning and Radnich has said Tony is just taking some time off.

I think there's something wrong here. I just called and whoever answered the phone said Bruno might be out next week too.

Who did you speak with..and did they say anything else (not suprised that's all they said though)?

Good news (perhaps). I can report that there is a very good chance that Tony will be back on Monday. Yes, the problem did involve contract negotiations. If (and when hopefully) you hear Tony back on the air at Sporting News, he will have a new contract (his old one was up in a couple of months). The only (slightly) bad news is that Mark Willard will probably not be joining tony in Phoenix for the Super Bowl due to timely credential constraints....but they will still be together for the future. I have this news from a very reliable source but i didnt ask permission to pass this info along so i wont reveal the source.

Thats too bad that Mark won't be able to join him in Glendale, and I'm glad that Tony is coming back. Listening to those two guys (the Bobs) that are filling in for him is like listening to paint dry.

It's definitely contract negotiations!! I hope this isn't FSR all over again. Remember this? Hello Everybody.....................................cow bells. Maybe we should start a collection for Bruno!

Update: This morning on KNBR (San Francisco), Gary Radnich said that Tony is going through a professional matter and hopes it will be resolved soon. If he isn't in Phoenix for the Super Bowl, then it's serious...

Update: (according to the website). Tony will not be back on next week. The schedule shows the Bobs going to the Superbowl and broadcasting during that time slot :'(

the sporting news radio website has it's Super Bowl schedule for Arizona posted and it has Bob abd Bob live from radio row in Bruno's time slot. Guess it wasn't a one week vacation or illness.

Yeah Bruno is done at SNR, they probably offered him some lowball amount to re-enlist and then decided they couldn't afford him after all.. he's not going back to that popsicle stand.

Where does he go now? I think he is done in radio. He said even months ago when he was on with Gary Radnich in San Francisco he was going to leave when his contract was up. He seemed serious about.

He says he is content with his life and enjoys watering his plants and just "getting down."

Tony's My Space page has a counter with 64 days left on it (counting down). Not sure where he might go; hope 1010 in Tampa doesn't extend the Sports Chicks to 5 hours....

Until you see his named removed from the sporting news radio webiste..i wouldnt jump to such conclusions.

I'd agree with that...they took Dave Smith's name off the roster right away. Bruno is still listed there as of today...

He's done at SNR. No Super Bowl shows, how is that crappy network going to explain this disaster?
The ****** who answers his phones has also been telling callers that Bruno screwed himself with bad contract talks. Should some phone hack be saying that to total strangers? Who is running that toilet anyway?

Well, they'll be out of business soon. RIP S-N-R!!!!!!!!! ???
