Tony Pacelli

Haven't heard him the past 2 days. Someone says he was laid-off. Also heard Richie Sallo is the next to go since he transitioned from TV, and hasn't sold anything.

Both people are good friends and solid radio people.. I wish them well if that's the case... Radio and TV have never been kind top anyone in this area. I saw the writing on the wall years ago, they'll suck you dry and ask you to sell something that's really had to sell then when you don't succeed after a short time they toss you out. There's no time spent teaching you how to see and your accounts are usually the ones they teed off or no one else can sell.. and when you can't hit a home run in your fist at bat, you're fired. Rich & Tony have the people skills and great community contacts.. I hope the see the writing on the wall and seek employment out of that industry.. you both deserve better.

Your right on this one too emo...Today everyone wants instant gratification..especially the suits in radio and TV. No one has the time to nurture anyone. You either have it (their way) or you dont. Sad situation. No one has fun anymore.

The smartest people in Radio & TV are the one's who've lined up outside jobs for that special day when the ax drops... Look at recent moves in our industry.. Keith Martin (Homeland Security) & Vince Sweeny (SPCA).... both had ties to certain organizations that kept the door open for an opportunity after broadcasting. I'm not saying Vince welcomed the change, but he had a saftey net, and as I said, they have the people and communication skills in place.. all they need is a contact or two and someone to recoginze what they've done for their community. Don't for one minute think that someone like Andy Mehalshick hasn't thought about the day the mucic will end and what organization may be looking for someone with area connections, great communication skills & commitment to this area. If indeed Rich & Tony have been dealt a bad hand here.. I hope they resurface outside the industry an d with an organization that will utilize their talents, not stiffle thgem.

Hmm, interesting.

So gazing into the crystal ball, who in the market, radio and TV, might we imagine leaving their broadcasting job only to assume a position where?

Paola Giangiacomo? Jeff Walker? Ooh, what about Marisa?

Anyone else?

Who would be perfect doing what?

I'm not sue about the Jeff Walker types... these positions typically are best suited for news (radio or TV).. these individuals make the contacts, attend meetings and community gatherings and basically smooze with the influential people. They have public trust and visibility. I can see Andy Mehalshick in politics someday. Local boy with strong ties in the Hazleton area. You've seen Frank Andrews take the route. If a radio personality makes the right contact they can be very visible and involved with local charities and organizations which can open the door for future employment. Kathy Bozinsky is another that jumps to mind.. she had the connections and was rewarded (briefly). Both Rich and Tony have made plenty of contributions to local organizations and charities in the Hazleton Area, I certainly hope they find a more secure and rewarding position outside the shrinking radio market.

Although I hope Tony finds work.. I hope it's not in radio... Both Tony & myself are far beyond those years when we can easily bounce back from a station collapse or cleaning of the house like just occurred at WAZL... The market has shrunk drastically and is not kind to those who depend on it for security. I implore all to seek employment outside this dying industry. I'd rather see Tony hook up with "The River".. if their new studio at Mohegan Sun requires more live air talent.. I think Tony would be a better fit than whats happening at WAZL..

I heard Tony on WAZL Wednesday afternoon. I was told it was a voice track. But, it's still a positive thing. I'm sure things will work out for him. He's too good to not use his skills and talent.
