Almost everything in this business is based on whose butt you kiss and not the talent you have. If you have talent and work hard but don’t kiss butt, you get shut out. We’ve lost a lot of great talents who refused to kiss butt. The people who left were pushed out by the butt kissers. How is it that someone can basically know nothing about radio, but become a PD in this market? It’s simple, they are the people who gave in to butt kissing instead remembering it was a love for the business that drew them in in the 1st place not a love of butt kissing. It’s not true for all the people in management here, but for a couple it is. This business should be about hard work and determination not how well a person can kiss up. It’s too bad that this is what its come to.

Keep in mind, one man's "failure to kiss butt" is another man's "won't follow direction, won't do what he/she's told" or "other employees can't stand to work with this arrogant you-know-what" or "thinks he/she runs/owns my radio station."

So you've been in "this business" for what? Five minutes? Get turned down to run the board during a high school basketball game or something? Perhaps you should get back to doing your homework and get ready for another day at high school.

I must say that you really don't understand what radio is all about. A successful career in radio (in any market) is all about sacrifice. If you're starting out, which, if you're trying to get a job in Binghamton, I hope you're just starting out....You must be willing to sacrifice any personal life you want to have. I spent years working weekends, weekend nights, and overnights, doing personal appearances on the weekends, early mornings, late evenings.....basically, whatever was asked of me. In order to succeed you must be willing to do whatever is necessary. Even if it means loosing some sleep, pissing your girlfriend off, or missing out on a Friday night out. It's business.
