Too Beautiful To Live (They're Right, Kill It!)

Has anyone heard this show? I've worked with Burbank and I just don't how long this will last. His first talk show on KVI lasted 3 weeks (6 weeks if you include the "best of" tapes that they ran after the third live show). He wasn't willing to give up his Saturday afternoons or do show prep.

He couldn't stick with any one job when he left KVI and Seattle.

I cannot understand why PDs like Casey Keating and Ron Arquette allow themselves to be duped by this guy, just because he makes them laugh?

Give the guy, and the show, a break.

They're trying something new. It sounds promising, and I've listened to it several times. This is not your father's talk radio, and it's not supposed to be.

You're right on the money CorporateSuit - TBTL needs to die. Now. Today. And Jen Andrews needs to stick to producing talk shows - not try to be the female Phil Vandervort. Heck, I'd rather hear Styble than TBTL - and that ain't saying much.

I heard a couple of minutes of his show during Week #2. He was teasing a "best of" moment from Week ONE. Could decide if he thought that much of his ego or the bit was that good. I stuck through the break and found out he did and it wasn't.

This week he spent a segment jawing with a friend from New York whether he thought his show title was too namby-pamby and the next segment "interviewing" a Hooters girl.

If the only thing this has going for it is that it's live and local, hellllooooo satellite!

I have listened to it several times and enjoy it thoroughly. This evening I turned off the TV and listened to the whole show, and I haven't spent a whole evening listening to the radio since KVI flipped from talk to country music and J Michael Kenyon's Seven-Eleven Sports went off the air.

Moreover, I cut them major slack because they are from Seattle. They are not just in from someplace else and looking to move on to someplace bigger. They're my people.

The amazing thing is the same station that puts on something as entertaining as TBTL thinks the unlistenable-to Ron and Don are worth the electricity.

Speaking as someone with some knowledge, I can tell you this guy was definitely not their first choice. Bonneville reached out to other local talent but like many corporations, they refused to spend the money on people with a greater market presence.

If this show is supposed to be some young cool hip thing than why did they give it a name my grandpa would have come up with?

Too Beautiful to Live?

Hip?

Stupid.

The show really is lame and out of focus. Last nite they were discussing 20-something local bands - and get this - they did it without playing any audio clips of the bands. In a day when the most insignificant untalented bands put music on YouTube and most phones have built in 12 channel mixer boards with full EQ and compression - to not play some audio clips of the bands is inexcusable!

Even older audience members want to be somewhat hip - so we'd listen to audio clips of the local bands. But to hear descriptions of "Euro Potty Trash with a Jamacian back beat' was frustrating and a quick tune out.

I agree...the show sounds totally 'seat of the pants'. Don Imus can pull that off. Of course, look at where that got him!

Equally - let's give it some time. My first year on the radio i expected to get fired everytime i showed up for work...and listening to old airchecks, I should have been fired.
