Too Many Losses

We're losing too many vintage radio people this month.
Wally Nelskog, Dan Holiday, and today Dan/Eric Slocum.

Will be glad when calendar finally flips to March.
Condolences to the entire KOMO family......

And Davy Jones of The Monkees, Whitney Houston.....Man, this month has SUCKED.......

Heartbreaking when a broadcaster takes their own life. I'm still not quite over the sting of losing Bob Hardwick 20 years ago.

But deep down inside (even broadcasters) are also human.

We don't know what was going on in Eric's mind when he made that awful decision. But all I know is we'd do anything now to stop him from going through with it if only we were there. And we wouldn't say much, just listen. Because that was what Eric needed the most.

We already heard the news. But we can't hear Eric.

That is the saddest thing I feel now on a sad enough day after losing Davy Jones......

I don't know what kind of support Slocum had in his personal life, but apparently it was not enough. I, like everyone else, wish there was something I could've done to help prevent this tragedy.

Add another to the list as well...just heard that Jim Nelly Sr. passed away this past week.

--from seatacradio.com--

Jim Nelly, the GM at KTAC during it’s infancy as a Top-40 powerhouse. Jim worked at KMO as the GSM and then was recruited by Ron Murphy, (one of the principals of KTAC prior to Joe Field purchasing it). Jim loved to sell…and loved Rock and Roll…at least after he became the GM at KTAC..before that he loved Country Music at KMO…I told you he loved to sell!!!

...and today we add Steve Rivers, who lived here for many years and last programming stop was at KBKS/Seattle (when it was still part of CBS).

Steve was a fun person and respected everyone he worked with in the biz.

Yes, heard that news today. A brilliant programmer. He had been in ill health the past several years.
