Too Much Sports?

This past Tues and Wed evenings had:

- 540/WFLF: Finish Line
- 580/WDBO: Magic Game
- 740/WGYM: Fox Sports (what, no Premire Suplements infomercials?)
- 1080/WHOO: ESPN

Great for a sports fan, but can't imagine the community could support all this at once.

Also, is Sileo now simulcasting on 540 & 740? Is a change coming soon in the A.M. for 540?
 
I believe you are on to something!

Lately, I have been reading listener behavioral studies as unearthed by Arbitron with the new PPM methodology in the major markets. Did you know that a station retains 90% of it's audience through a commercial stopset? Even stopsets six minutes long!

This is true of every format except one ...SPORTS! Even in the most contentious game, once you stop down, the audience is GONE! :eek:

You forgot one... The Rays are now on AM 1190. Yeah, that's right. Did anyone even know? Concerning Sileo... As soon as 540 secures the show they want for afternoons, Bud will move to mornings. Once that happens, Sileo moves to 740 exclusively. As for Shot Doctor's future on either station... who knows.
 
Well wait a minute here.....

Just think, one, two or three of these stations could switch to Rush Limbaugh clones or wanna be's and that would be considered "great radio".

Another could switch to 24 hours of Dave Ramsey. Who? Dave Ramsey. The guy who claims he's such a great Christian and many churches are kissing his--- but on the air he's using euphamisims for the "F" word and the "GD" phrase. Way to go, Dave.
 
Speaking of Rush Limbaugh clones....

Does anybody remember several years ago when somebody at 580 was doing his best to imitate Limbaugh (and tell the world how much of a wanna be he was!) and got shot down on the air?

The night before some black kid was either shot or killed in a wreck involving some type of criminal activity. The Clone was going on and on about how bad this kid was (he was 15 or 16), ranting and raving, generally making noise about things he had ZERO knowledge about. Little did the Clone know he was making a fool of himself. After a few minutes a male caller was let on and challenged the Clone on every point. Point by point the Clone was reduced to nothing and the Clone's reaction was to try to insult the caller. The caller was very patient and professional and finally identified himself as the family's Funeral Director! He let the Clone have it and of course, the Clone was speechless! These days the Clone is still around but has been relegated to a board operatior...I'm sorry, a "producer".
