Toohey joining Trapper on DOK 1/16

WDOK continues their "tweaking" to a younger sound as they bring in longtime Q 104 voice Jen Toohey to be Trapper Jack's AMD co-host on "The New 102" starting Monday.

Good for JT, but now the question is...what in the Wide World of Sports is going on now at Q 104?

Toohey is now across the hall at DOK, and PMDer Heather B is going back up north to Montreal.

Is Allen Fee going to do the Q AMD show solo? Getting a new sidekick? A completely new AMD show with Fee perhaps going to a different slot (PMD)?

My goodness...in the last 6 months, CBS sure shaken up their Cleveland cluster.

8/28/11...goodbye "Radio 923", hello "The Fan"
Oct-Dec 2011...from Maxwell to Nard to Slats on WNCX in AMD
Jan 2012...the whirlwind of change at 1 Radio Lane (both at DOK and QAL)

I'm actually beginning to like the way the New102 is heading. (Not that I had a problem with WDOK the way it was). I think WDOK needed someone like Jen who has a great name/reputation in Cleveland radio, like Nancy was.

No clue what will happen to Q-104's lineup now...but I'm wondering what about the other 2 dayparts on New102 that haven't yet been announced?

When a friend of mine told me that Jen was moving to 102, I thought "That's cool. She would be good in middays." (before I saw that it was big "morning" announcements on q104.com and new102.com).

That leaves Midday's and Night's to be filled (Delilah is gone you know). Do you guys think they will move anyone else from Q104 over? I kind of doubt it since both ends of the day on Q104 are being changed right now (Jen moving to 102 and HeatherB leaving town).

What are your predictions on Middays and Night's on New102?

I'm thinking middays and nights are going to be filled by out-of-towners. CBS is likely going to be bringing in someone from another market as opposed to bringing in someone who has been on Cleveland radio before.

Middays and nights can go either way gender-wise. If they're going to hire a female for middays, then they need to have a guy in on nights. If it's a male on middays, then there should be another male on nights to avoid bringing in another female to upset the Delilah fans.

Of course, if they don't want to upset Nancy's fans, maybe slide in Desiray on middays and bring in Daune Robinson for afternoons. Just my ideas.

I do think they're going to be more deliberate finding a midday person for 102. It gives time for the Nancy following to "calm down", and they can just pump in music until the time is right.

Then again, don't underestimate the Delilah Army. As I noted in my recent update, I know a woman who is probably going nuts right now if she realizes Delilah is gone for good. I haven't asked her yet. I actually set up her laptop computer to have Delilah's page as one of her opening tabs!

Also, there are those who are upset that Jim Brickman's "Your Weekend" is gone. One listener was saying she won't ever return to WDOK because he's longer on the station.

I did see WHOF, which carries "Your Weekend," on FB asking listeners if they've switched from WDOK, but they're not powerful enough in Cleveland to steal away listeners.

True...about WHOF. Their main hope of stealing would the former WDOK listeners in...Akron maybe.

But...you know...how many people in Akron listen to WDOK?? Then...of those what percentage actually turned against WDOK and looked for somewhere new? Then...of those...how many actually choose WHOF?

lol...yeah the number is small.

(I have nothing against WHOF at all...I just agree...they aren't powerful enough to reach up into the Greater Cleveland enough for the average listener to notice them.)
