Top 3 Morning Shows Past or Present (In My Opinion)!

Here are my top 3 morning shows (Past or Present)

1. "The Doghouse" - Wild 94-9(1996-2005). Truly the Bay Area's BEST Morning Show of All-Time. Elvis, JV and a host of others with their off the wall comedy, Crazy Stunts and their commitmemt to the community made it THE best morning of All-time!

2. "The Morning Madhouse with Digs and Biz" - 102.5 KDON. Currently the Bay Area's Best Morning Show, they keep listeners laughing with their off-the-wall "Phone Jacks" and Crazy Stunts, and their off the wall humor!!!!!!!

3. Dr. Don Rose - KFRC (1973-1986) Truly a Bay Area radio legend, those who grew up with him remember him for his off the wall humor.

What are your TOP 3 morning shows (Past or Present)?

Hammerin' Hank, I think it's more than obvious why you put Doghouse as number one. You were part of the show! Personally, I think that they were just your run-of-the-mill zany morning show with juvenile humor at best. As for Dr. Don Rose, there's a legend.

#1 Dr. Don Rose
#2 Kelly & Kline (on their 1st Bay Area home, KWSS)
#3 Undecided, but props to the KYUU Era Don Bleu AND KRTY's Gary & Julie (Gary seems to work pretty hard)

NOW, HOW ABOUT THE BAY AREA'S **WORST** Morning shows of past and present?

Apparently, as long as the humor is "off the wall," it's in the running.

#2 Human Numan, z95.7, this guy was on for like 1 week and aired a bit about cussing out some kid on the air, what an ass this guy is, oh, and now he's on over at sirius hits 1!!! asskisser!!!
#3 ron and cammy, kfrc, these two suck big time, no wonder she is known as HAMMY, makes me ill every time I here them, I'd rather listen to DON BLEU every morning and that takes guts too.:)

Re: worst bay area morning shows....

I gotta agree with number one but my choice for the the second worst
Bay Area Morning Show is...Howard Stern - Live 105! He sucks BIG time!!!!

3-All of those non-commercial radio wannbe DJ's!!! No comment!!!!

BUT! My pick for The WORST overall radio show of all time is the "Total Request Zone" on Z95.7! Didn't they get that idea from MTV's TRL? I remember they had artists as guest DJ's hosting the show!!!!! IT SUCKED!!!!! I just glad Stick now works for a great radio station in Orlando!!!!!!

My favorite Doghouse/Stern moment was when the Doghouse was playing some original song and in it there was something about Stern being old and a racist.

The Doghouse then went to a bit where they were shaving the pubic region of women. Ummmmm, didn't Stern even write about doing that bit in one of his books?

I thought Kelly & Kline on X-100 were good, though apparently nobody was listening. I think Alex Bennett on KMEL (the "Camel" era), the original Quake, and the first few years of Live 105 deserves at least an honorable mention. I'd include Jeff McNeal on KYUU, but he was always afternoon drive, while the semi-entertaining Don Bleu held down the mornings. Top 3 Worst: (1) Cammy, (2) Cammy, (3) Cammy. I have to give a pass to her co-hosts - Dean, JD, and Ron Parker - they've all made good money riding along on that train wreck...you can't blame them. JD actually brought the quality of the show up considerably, and made the "humorous" banter less obvious and sophomoric. I've always figured that's why he didn't last.

Re: worst bay area morning shows....

J.D. is a nice guy...and everything you said he was...However, there were other more serious issues that led to his being off the morning show and then out KFRC completely...The fact he lasted as long as he did was due to the fact that he is, indeed, a nice guy....

With all due respect, Hank ... you're kidding, right? The second best morning show in the entire history of San Francisco Bay Area radio is a show on a station in Monterey?

How did you factor in the programs from the 1950s and 1960s? Do you realize that in the 1960s, Don Sherwood on KSFO had more than 25% of ALL LISTENERS in the Bay Area tuned to him -- men, women, old people, kids -- ALL LISTENERS. Not just 18-24 left-handed men with gray eyes.

At the same time, every other station put out their best people in the morning to fight back -- KNBR had Doug Pledger, KCBS had Dave McElhatton, KGO had Jim Dunbar, KYA had Emperor Gene Nelson and KEWB had Gary Owens and (later) Don MacKinnon. Each one of these guys is a Hall of Famer. I don't know whether the Doghouse or the Madhouse are of that same caliber.

Don't forget: radio wasn't invented when you started listening. The guys that came before laid the groundwork for every one of the guys that followed.

I realize that it's a matter of opinions, but you have to consider a wider pallette of choices than just the few you may be familiar with.

Great topic, by the way!
