Top 40 Ignoring Ella Langley

Sean Ross asks the same question:

In the Mediabase country chart, had this song not gone recurrent, it would still be in the Top 10.

The Billboard chart has different recurrent rules, and it is at #6 in their airplay chart.
Ross' article mentions "Boston" by Stella Lefty. This singer has an unusual background. She's from L.A. and her actual surname is Lefkosky. Her father, Steve, is a billionaire who co-founded Groupon. I'm amazed that her single is getting played at either CHR or country, seeing how closely it ties in with Noah Kahan's "Stick Season," which was an AC and AAA hit. Even more amazing is that, with her name and background, country programmers are the ones who are responding to it more favorably than CHR programmers.

Country programmers are more willing to take risks with new artists than CHR. I think that's kind of the point of this thread.

Right now, Stella Lefty's song Boston is tracking at #29 in the country airplay chart. She signed with a brand new country label (Atlantic Outpost) for radio promotion, and she's getting played. Ella Langley has three songs in the country chart now, including her duet with Morgan Wallen. She tests extremely well with young women. We're seeing country radio stations getting big numbers in 18-34. Country is becoming the new CHR.
