The statistics I posted were from the year-to-date totals at Mediabase. This month is only halfway through whereas the previous counts were for full months.
Just to let you know, I tried streaming iMix 104.5 through the website but it isn't working. Is the music on KIMX done in house, or a 24/7 format like LRN?
No its not geofenced. Weve had IT issues... forwarding from imixwyoming.com 987krqu.com and newcountry967.com should forward to www.laramieradio.com but its failed.. numerous times for no reason.
Its programmed in house by hits 106 (our AC Station) midday voicetracker Andrew Cannon in California
The line of artists wanting to sing with George is out the door, down the street, and around the block. I'm surprised they haven't done a duets album with him like Brooks & Dunn have done. A lot of them would love to sing his songs from the 80s. Even if they were originally released before they were born. Scotty McCreery is 32 and he just recorded a song by Conway Twitty, who died before Scotty was born.
You can easily find two songs by female artists with different tempos and subject matter, and play them back to back. I think it's more about Country radio afraid to alienate male listeners.
Country is a majority female format. The research says female listeners want to hear more hunky men with mustaches.
They are in love with Morgan Wallen and Riley Green. They like Ella because they identify with her, and relate to what she sings about. Same with Lainey, Megan, Stella, and the rest.
Contrary to what people say, women artists get played back to back. It's inevitable that it happens.
Did you read Sean Ross''s take? I tend to side with his reasoning why. Your reasoning is different.
I read Sean's take and as I said earlier, I don't agree. Sean seems to be looking for a problem to write about. I don't know any country PDs who purposely schedule music so that there aren't two women back to back. If you look at the chart, Ella herself has three songs back to back in Billboard's Hot Country chart. Obviously country stations are playing a lot of Ella, Stella, Megan, Lainey, and this new Taylor song. To say women aren't getting a fair shot in country doesn't match up with the chart. If anything, there are more women in country than a lot of other formats.
The bottom line is that country is a female format. Programmers play these songs to appeal to women.

And Luke Combs and Jelly Roll, who hardly ooze the raw sexuality of the stars you mention.
It's funny but women love them.
KKGO has no problem playing female artists back to back. At least for 3 hours on Saturday night, when it's a female takeover via a new show. I'll be listening...
