Top 40 on WGVA 1240 and WACK 1420

This was very cool to come across..... I grew up listening to Chickenman and got a box of chickenman tapes from my grandfather - Bud Sova - when I was a kid. He told me bits of history of when he owned WACK. I thought he was the coolest cat growing up - and still do. He unfortunately passed away about 15 years ago in Lakeland FL. I was forunate enough at the time to be living in Daytona going to college at Embry Riddle and could visit him and Nana Dot often on weekends. I grew up in south FL about 3 or 4 miles from Bud and Dot as they retired to Coral Springs FL around 1970. My parents, Bonnie and Tony moved to Coral Springs in 1974.

I think my uncle Tom may have done a little broadcasting on WACK or maybe just some work around the station. He is doing well in Charlotte NC these days.

I always found it interesting that my granfather - we called him grandfeathers - actually knew and worked with Bud Paxson. Not sure of all the details but I believe at one time he and Paxson may have been partners at WACK. Although Paxson and Grandfeathers kept in touch over the years, I never did get to meet him. When Grandfethers passed, Bud sent a sympathy card to Nana Dot and possibly a flower arrangement.

Anyways, Savage, thanks for the mention of Bud Sova as my search would not have turned up this article.

PS- I think I still have the chickenman tapes buried at my folks house in Coral Springs. I can still hear it in my head - the adventures of chickenman!
