Top 40 Radio Returns To Norfolk - Hot 100.5!!! :)

Finally, CHR/Pop is back in the Hampton Roads on a full-market signal!
All I can say is that it's about damn time.
The station sounds like a big-city CHR music-wise as the playlist leans Rhythmic. Still, they've already played 3Oh!3, Jason Mraz, Taylor Swift, The Fray, All American Rejects, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and more.

Check out the stream over at:
http://www.hot1005.com/

They're doin 3000 songs in a row.

"Visit us on the web at Hot one hundred five dot com...well...not one hundred five (105), but one hundred point five, but without the point. Dot com."

Suh-WING and a miss.

I like it so far,, although I really liked THE ZONE<,, this could dent Z-104 in the next few books,,, we wait and see aye..... Anyway,,,, Its time this market had a high powered CHR since Z went rhythmic,,,, The ZONE was good, but it was hard to hear in Norvolk or VA Beach on a Boombox. 100.5 Booms in.....

CHR is thriving despite the ecomonomy, almost anywhere in the US has a CHR station, either local, Fringe, or out of market.... some lean rhythmic, some lean adult, some lean rock, but they are all CHR,,, thats what counts.

Station sounds great (wish the webstream quality was a bit better, but oh well). And yes, it is about time that the Norfolk area finally got a full market mainstream CHR. Other than the shortlived rimshot Zone, they've been without mainstream top 40 for years. (actually one of the largest markets, if not the largest, without one). I never really understood why either. Is Norfolk that polarized that everything had to be either rhythmic or rock? There are other markets kind of like that (Memphis, Birmingham, Jacksonville, etc.), but even all of those have now had mainstream CHR's for years. Anyway, seems like since it's a coastal and beach area, a true mainstream, "fun" hit music format would be a must.

Anyway, it's about time, and it's great to see CHR in almost all markets now. Here's to wishing success to Hot 100.5!

The format is very PPM-friendly, which is why several of them have been launched since AMP 97.1's launch in LA, which has become a spectacular success, since they've already beaten KIIS-FM in 18-34 right off the bat.
