This is all from memory, but this is a brief rundown.
KLEB-AM 1600 Has always been a Cajun/Country music station since Jack Egle owned the station in May 1963. You might be thinking of KLEB-FM 94.3. Since it's sign on in November 1966 was both top 40 daytime country nights until 1976-'77 when the calls were changed to KZZQ-FM Z-94 with a top 40 daytime using the Z-format from Century 21 Programming and Album Oriented Rock at night.
Around 1983 it was changed to Jones Adult Contemporary Sattelite format, it was down hill from there. Harold Callias Purchased both KLEB/KZZQ around 9/30/1985 Changed Z94 to Bayou94 (KBAU-FM) with live DJ's. Changed to country as Bayou Country 94.3 KLEB-FM simulcasting with 1600 until the FM was sold to Michael Costello and George H. Buck in 06/08/1995, and became an oldies station WTIX-FM.

As For KJIN/KCIL there was a thread here that went into depth of the format changes and the ill-advised switch to the easy listening format.

Are you sure about that because I found an article in the New Orleans newspaper classifieds that KLEB AM 1600 was looking for a Top 40 DJ in July of 1966.

Ok. That's something I was not aware of. I only remembered it as 80% country and 20% Cajun not a 20/20/60% format. The yearbooks only show Country/Cajun music format so I thought the ad was originally for the FM only. I do Remember Buddy Miller at KLRZ/KLEB saying the format for KLFT-AM1600 (Nov 4,1955 till silent around 1961-62. (KLEB previous incarnation)) with that kind of format.
I cannot access the link for the ad you gave because it is on a private computer hard drive. If you can send a copy via e-mail attachment I would appreciate it, cause I still would like to see It.
