Top 5 Radio Heroes in Nashville

In an effort to create some action in a slow week, and a market that seen its not-so-fair share of changes, who would rank in your Top 5 of the best people left in this town? It's a positive note, and I'll start...

1.
2.
3. Kim Leslie - a very talented on-air personality... personable is the operative word.
4. Karla Lawson - not a personality, but professional in delivery.
5. Jack Shell - Mr. Boss Jock, egotistical, but you can't deny his talent.

Feel free to comment on these and create your own Top 5. The first two were left blank on purpose. No one currently on the air deserves those positions, although I'd have given Bobby Knight the top spot. He was a class act. And Mark Allen who I always thought was entertaining and off-the-cuff. Does anyone know where these guys are? Are they still in Nashville?
 
Got to be House at number one. Clean show, great show prep, funny supporting cast, highly rated for many years--both before and after Los Angeles.

Ramsey's financial talk was innovative and is highly successful. He may lack some on-air polish and sound repetitive, but his advice is selling and spreading. As one poster mentioned elsewhere Ramsey's genuine care and concern for callers comes through on air.
 
I agree with courier with House as number one.
Another who is not often thought of when this subject comes up.....Chris Romer. I know...he and I are friends and all that, -- but listen some morning between 5a and 6a and he does make it "the best of house." It's so seamless there have been times I started to call him ----even though I was sure he wasn't there, but it sounded that live he had me fooled. He'd just say 'I'm easily fooled.' But listen on Saturday to the best of house show and you can get his dry wit coming though.

And if you're not a big country fan, you may not have heard Bill Cody on WSM. He has that laid back 'good ole boy' charm and is a pro all the way. When he came to Nashville, he spent a month before he ever went on the air visiting the area to ensure he had the local pronunciations when he was on. And he's a nice guy too.

Have to agree on Kim and Karla. Have worked with both...and my list goes on. but I'll stop here.
Like to hear some of yours since I'm not that familiar with others in town anymore
and now i remember proud mary, pamala on 101, jim and woody, squeege, etc.

I have a tough time naming names....because there are so many of them, many of them friends or people I've listened to so long they feel like friends even though we haven 't met.

i'll admit that i don't listen to nashville radio..since olebud and i aren't on..lol..but i didn't know carla lawson had left town..when and where..i worked with her and coyote briefly at power country years ago

Carl P. ruled the roost for a long time. Who among us wouldn't kill to have his talent? In his prime, one of the nation's best radio personalities. And one of Nashville's, too.
 
I'm thinking some of the best Nashville talent isn't on the air. NOT a slam at any listed so far mind you. And no I'm not on that list...far from it!

Gerry is a love 'em or tired of 'em jock, but he has such a quick wit.
Glad to see Ms. Leslie getting recognition. There's a reason she gives Gerry a run for his money in the morning. Jack Shell and Bill Cody are also very strong. Certainly some strong talent in that market. And some weak talent. Guess thats true everywhere.

Cody was on WHAS in Louisville prior to going to Nashville. Would have to agree he is a real professional guy despite the "aw shucks" manner.
 
For traffic reports I'd have to say Richard Thomas. Richard knows the city instead of saying theres an accident in the 1500 block of whatever street, he says theres a wreck in front of ths Hardee's on whatever street. He's the best.
