So in markets like Tampa or Hartford, you have the Oldies/Classic Hits station (WRBQ, WDRC-FM) and you have the Classic Rock/Classic Hits station (WXGL, WHCN). In a case like this, you'd have to go to their website or
www.yes.com to see which Classic Hits format each station is running.
In Hartford, WDRC-FM is definitely oldies/classic hits, with a couple of dozen pre-Beatles hits (Elvis, Holly, Haley, Berry -- technically, even "Louie Louie" is pre-Beatles in the U.S.) sprinkled in, but I've never bought into WHCN as a classic hits station. They play way too much '90s/'00s/current. Here's their playlist for 6 p.m. Monday:
Photograph -- Nickelback
The Way It Is -- Bruce Hornsby
Renegade -- Styx
Angel Eyes -- Jeff Healey Band
Who's Crying Now -- Journey
Squeeze Box -- Who
Here Without You -- 3 Doors Down
One Thing Leads to Another -- Fixx
Hey You -- Pink Floyd
Eleanor Rigby -- Beatles
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For -- U2
Now, the same hour on DRC-FM:
I'm a Man -- Spencer Davis Group
Heart of Glass -- Blondie
Mandy -- Barry Manilow
Love Is All Around -- Troggs
They Don't Know -- Tracey Ullman
Band of Gold -- Freda Payne
I Honestly Love You -- Olivia Newton-John
I Saw the Light -- Todd Rundgren
Two Hearts -- Phil Collins
Sister Golden Hair -- America
Love Me Do -- Beatles
Joy to the World -- Three Dog Night
Still the One -- Orleans
Mr. Tambourine Man -- Byrds
Baby Love -- Supremes
Hooked on a Feeling -- Blue Swede
