1. If you haven't added "I Kissed A Girl" yet, you're behind. Jump on this record ASAP!
2. Miley Cyrus has yet another hit. It most likely won't hit #1, but has a huge 12-17 reaction.
3. Interesting new track. meh.
4. It's Summertime. NKOTB fans will yet again emerge. Nice track, nothing huge.
5t. Duffy's "Mercy" is 'okay.' I'd jump on it lightly, it won't make it anywhere... too... strange.
5t. "All Summer Long" is interesting. I'd definitely hold off on this for now.
7. American Idol winner doesn't translate into "hit maker". Look at Taylor from 2 years ago. I wouldn't spin this.

^ and thanks for the update on the glowing example of CHR that the mighty KKCK represents.

Posting during your airshift I see?

The first songs and #4 will climb the charts, the rest are stiffs.

For those that aren't keeping up:
When I want to hear ALL of my favorite music, I'll pop in a CD....
When I want to hear the hits, I'll tune to Hot 104.7 also known as KKLS.
When I want to hear a cluserf**k, I'll tune in 99.7 KKCK. In order to be successful, you must be stable.
Mainstream sells, the only reason why 'KCK does what they do is........
1) They are the only game (local wise) there supporting Natasha Bedingfield into new Foo Fighters.... how's that for a music mix? They also are known to do "anything goes from Led Zeppelin to The Time to 2Pac" weekends called "old school"...which reminds me of what the also less-than-spectacular Canton, Ohio CHR does.
2) Linder has blessed them with a couple other POS stations to help support the others.

If you really think 'KCK can survive in a market outside of Marshall with the music selection by the MD (trust me, it's just a title, no brains).... you need help!

OK, I'll shut up now, I'm getting mean.

ok since I'm stuck in my station with a clusterf**k of tornadoes for a while, I'll weigh in (speaking of which, doc be careful up there - this storm is a bastich)

Ok Katy Perry is ginormous. It's not going to be a song that lasts forever, but I'm a rhythmic station getting #1 phones by a mile on it. If you're not playing it, hang up your PD/MD hat now. It's a top 5 hit easy.

Whoever said Miley Cyrus is a 12-17 hit is dead on. Song blows but kids will love it.

I like the PCD song, actually. It got a really goid reactuib from my listeners. I don't think it's top 5, but it could definitely be a moderate hit.

NKOTB - I'm not a pop station...I personally think the song sucks but it's got a nice novelty factor to it

Duffy's not gonna happen

Kid Rock will be a hit in the south I think, not sure about nationwide - once you get out of your Lynyrd Skynyrd junkies who knows how it will do.

David Cook will be a moderate hit because he was the A.I., I'm more interested to see what he puts out post-Idol - he's got the potential to be one of the most successful Idols yet, but I may be a little biased since he's a Tulsa guy :)

"I Kissed A Girl" is definitely a fun hit. It's trashy and fun, and blowing up the phones. However, as jjmac states, it will not last on the chart very long. It's a novelty song that will be huge for a month and will tire quickly.

The Pussycat Dolls song is going to blow up and fall fast. I'm getting hit or miss call for it, but it will likely gain quickly for being a core CHR artist with a new song.

New Kids on the Block and Duffy are moderate hits that don't have the phone reaction to eek out a top 10 hit, but they have enough good response to keep them around for a few weeks in small rotation.

"All Summer Long" is getting good response in small and southern stations, but elsewhere it has peaked and won't go much further after it reaches the top 30.

In terms of phones:

1. Flobots- "Handlebars"
2. Katy Perry- "I Kissed A Girl"
3. Lil Wayne- "Lollipop"

Katy Perry blew up overnight. If you're not playing it, you're behind. Flobots, while not a traditional CHR title, has had the best instant response in my 11 years working in radio. On the other hand there's people calling the station to never hear it again. And Lollipop is an urban track that kids blow up the lines for. The rest are a mile apart from those three.

All Summer Long is huge here, it just moved from B to power.

P.S. Truthsayer, I used to work at that station when I was in college. While it's been through moments where listening to it made you suicidal, I heard it recently and it was pretty solid.
