Top Biller at Majic 94.1 Resigns

With their good ratings and a brighter ratings future, one would have to wonder why the top biller who's been there for over 20 years would resign. Another sign that it's a terrible place to work! It doesn't matter how good your ratings are if you don't have good salespeople. There's plenty of sales opportunites available in the marketplace and people don't have to stay where they're miserable. Too bad the Hilton's just don't get it. They're sitting on a goldmine but can't get to the payoff because of their management.

Really not much to wonder about. Ask yourself this... would you bet your future on the company's long term prospects?

::) Who would that be? There is no sales personnel or air staff that have been there 20 years continuous.
2 engineers, 1 in the office and one "Ghost Whisperer" ME!

Jo Sanderlin. If she hasn't been there 20 years, it's got to be close to it.

I worked there in 95 and she had been there already for a couple of years after being at WJMH .... give the lady credit for longevity ... 14-15 years ... it's a long time to stay put in this biz.

Thought Big Sid was the "Top Biller"? Always was! Ya'll brough it up! Why did she leave? ::)

;D Did Dewey ever outsell Everhart???? I saw him yesterday! Omar Too! He had a new shirt! But the bad thing was he still plays that "Damn" "Saturday Night Fish Fry" Ya Know it's starting to grow on me after 40 years..."The Ghost Whisperer" ;D

Yer out of touch Big Ape. Big Sid WAS the Sales Manager until a few months ago when he decided he didn't want to be in Management any more...not the top biller. He'll probably be the top biller real soon, though! I'm sure he'll get some of Jo's accounts. I think she left because she was fed up! ;D

"Plenty of "Free" Paved Parking right at the door!!!

The Place to find "What you Want"

This weeks specials..Hog Jowls, Boloneee..SL Food Cntr

Need to get those local accounts on the FM, Sid! Shake a Snake..Boy that was a brilliant idea wasn't it! (Bunch of inside jokes here friends if ya hadn't figured that out by now...Just pardon the old timers!)

Looks like Jo is going to Dick Broadcasting. Her life will probably improve by leaps and bounds! All I can say is if you're thinking of going to Davidson County Broadcasting, you should have your head examined! I'd advise talking to ex-employees (those who left of their own accord, to be fair), and thinking about it real hard before you make that leap!

According to the Trends posted on this thread..THZ is 5..Why would she leave?? Hey Gig, Hell, I''ll come back..If ya need me.... of course I'll have to have that "trade" at Fontana.. APE! ;D ;D

Davidson County Broadcasting does have non-competes. Unfortunately, they're not worth the paper they're printed on. I don't think Gig could enforce one if he tried. The way they've been handling their non-competes would not hold up in court. There are a series of things that need to happen for a company to enforce their non-competes. 1) Some form of compensation has to be given up front in exchange for signing a non-compete. You can't have someone sign one AFTER they're employed, unless you provide some form of compensation. 2) You can't hold someone to a non-compete just to keep them from competing with your company. The employer would have to prove that the salesperson has some kind of proprietary knowledge that would hurt them if they took it to a competitor. 3) You can't let some people out of the non-compete and try to enforce it with others. A precedent has been set. 4) Employers can't restrict people from being able to work in this state.

Pick Me Pick Me!!!Gig, I'll still come back...Actually. I ain't never wanted to work at all after I hit the First Fantasy 5 in Florida years ago and the Hits keep on Coming!

There are ways, of course, that a good sales person "sits out a non-compete" and there is little an employer can do about it.

They are extremely hard to enforce in North Carolina, a "right to work" state. In many cases, however, a prospective employer doesn't want to fight the battle and the non-compete stands unchallenged.
