Top Dallas Morning Shows

InsideRadio.com has done a chart of the top Dallas radio morning shows. It's based on cume, not quarter hour ratings. But it tells us a lot. The Kid Kraddick Morning Show, heard on 106.1 KHKS and syndicated nationally, is #1. The next two wake up shows are hosted by women. #2 is Hot AC KDMX 102.9, hosted by Michelle. And Leigh Ann hosts #3 AC station KDGE 102.1.

But I'm surprised that NPR station KERA-FM 90.1 is all the way down at #24. And All-News KRLD 1080 doesn't even make the list! How can a 50,000 watt All-News station, originally owned by CBS, with a large staff of news reporters and newscasters, "Traffic and Weather Together" every ten minutes, fail to finish in the top 25?

In San Francisco, All-News KCBS is #1 and NPR station KQED is #2. Is there THAT much of a disconnect between San Francisco and Dallas? The people of San Francisco wake up to news and information. The people of Dallas wake up to jokes and music?

Here is the sales demo 25-54 AQH rank:
KHKS
KTCK
KSCS
KLNO
KZPS
KMVK
KEGL
KKDA
KDMX
KNOR
KJKK
KRNB
KDGE
KBOC
KLUV
KLTY
KBFB
KZZA
KERA
KRLD-FM

Some stations with very limited cume, such as regional Mexican, win on AQH but don't do well in cume. Same applies to NPR, Urban AC and others. Best example: Howard Stern won on AQH listening, but was much lower ranked in cume. In markets where he was #1 or #2, he was 8th or 9th in cume.

I'm really surprised The Musers don't even make the AQH leader board. Wow.
