The talk of some young jocks in the "Adam 12 Replacement" thread it got me thinking and wondering who everyone had there eye on in the market who is of/under the age of 25? Do we have any "Real" players on any pay roll that's is going to make a splash in the future? Anyone willing to make a gamble on someone and say "I think that person is going to be a staple in this market" or "They're ready for bigger and better things..." Just found it an interesting discussion, I hope you agree...

Not like they'd have to show their ID (that's "identification," not "id") at the door so it's hard to judge a person's precise age, but I don't hear too many people that have the passion and dedication.

Adam 12 was entertaining when he was doing middays (before he got screwed and moved to nights) and he did 7-midnight like a pro. Paul Brenan is the rising star at the Edge, regardless of what you think of the man. Don't know him personally, but the dude sounds very together on the air and on commercials. You can teach that fairly easily, but it's hard to learn it.

I don't listen to Kiss long enough to hear anybody in your "under 25" who brings it. Like I said, they didn't show their proof at the door, so who knows. Brian B Wild and Shy Guy were the rising "under 25" stars years ago, but they're probably getting a little long in the tooth these days. Probably have houses in Snyder, two kids and a Scion in the driveway. Hey, isn't Janet a grandmother? I keeed!

As so many posters have pointed out here, the reason you don't hear too many "under 25" rising stars on the radio anymore is that most people in that demo don't give a rats rump. They have their mp3s and iPods stuck in their heads and are oblivious. They wanna be on the radio, but they really don't have the drive to learn how its done properly because, with few exceptions like Brian B, Shy Guy and Brenan, they don't respect the game. Gotta respect the game.

You wanna do radio as an "under 25?" You gotta know how it was done back in the day when the old timers made it work, guys like Neaverth, Benny, Buehly, Roberts, Armstrong, Berns, Santella, McGhan, Shannon, Shane, Norton and Moor were doing their acts. If you have no appreciation for these Hall of Fame players and how well they played the game, it's hard to play the game as well as they did.

i agree with brian b wild as he is very talented and shy guy shawn is a professional. they are 2 on kiss that have it and still do regardless if they're 28 now or whatever. paul sounds good and i think josh potter will have it too as he matures on the air. if he starts doing his own shifts and develops his own personality, he could be one to watch. val too even though she is over 25 is very strong even though the mix doesn't showcase her true talent on the air.

well.........................
what about that 'kev-industry' from k98.5 ?
(and, no i am NOT * kevin) just pimpin my self here...

but, he and miguel host a sat? show..or did, and the
tantem of 2, sound "young and FUN" promoting the
sat_night club thing they do on the chip-strip...

now, miguel, does his thing, and is "okay, at best"
but when miguel works w/ "kev-industry" he seems
to be a better talent. ( miguel, definately needs some
fine tuning esp.on his "own" show, i believe it is
later, sunday evenings)...
same w/ kevin, i have not heard him (solo) in a while,
but his breaks were short, FUN, and hit the point, FAST!
...the same is true for him too, with miguel..they just sound
pretty awesome, on the aire...and yea, i would bet
they are -25 years of age.

2 of them: just nail it, almost sounding bigger than being
on a small to mid-size market station...definately have that
upbeat, syndicated 'feel' to it, ( but in a good way!! ).... haha,
A delightful mix, of info-entertainement, and all the "hits!"
they come out, of a record, feed off each other, interact quickly,
then maybe have fun w/ a caller,(that is tight) and then hit a post, or big id, and onto the next.... it is a treat for the ears!
try them out: and give them a listen...*ON THE ACTUAL RADIO SHOW* that is
where they really shine. however, the local commercials, for quote,
definately sound very buffalo--and, have a one-take charlie
approach to them, or college radio presence... with abrupt
endings(not as tight) or, too loud voice over work, etc...

but as mentioned, the radio show, really sounds PRO !
