Top Gear vs Top Gear

Any thoughts on the US version of Top Gear (on History Channel) vs the BBC original Top Gear (on BBC America)?

I've seen a few episodes. The US version tries too hard to emulate the UK version. The current hosts are boring. If it had hosts such as Stacey David of GearzTV or Bryan Fuller of Two Guys Garage, then maybe it would be a better show.

No contest in my view. It is the wry wit of the British hosts
(Jeremy Clarkson in particular) that make the original work.

I like the US version. I find the guys on the new show to be people the common car guy in America can relate to. They generally do their antics in cars ordinary guys like me grew up on (72 Cutlass Supreme, Buick Roadmaster, etc.) And then they sprinkle in test drives and features in exotic cars like a Lotus. My wife really liked the British version (she loves BBC America) and her talking about that show turned me on to the US version. Now I can't wait till Sunday nights to see each new episode.
