Right off the bat, I'm new here. My name is Jon and this is my first post so, "hi everybody!" ;D
I've been Googling this topic for about half an hour and stumbled across this website. I'm hoping that someone here could offer their opinion or has had any experience with the voice over workshop offered by Top Hat Productions. They're usually done out of Orlando, but they're offering one here in South Florida next month that I was thinking about doing. However, before plunking down the five hundred they want for 'tuition', I'm trying to find out if it's worth it or not.
A little background on me: I got involved in radio back when I was in high school and continued with it through college. I was mainly on-air talent, though I did do some production work as well. After college, I jumped to TV where again, I split my time between on-air and production. After about three years in TV, I decided to exit the business and have not returned to broadcasting since.
Currently, I'm thinking about getting into voice overs and found this workshop given by Top Hat. Even though I'm not a complete noob when it comes to production and talent, I have almost no experience in straight-up voice over work. I've also been out of the business for nearly ten years, so I'm sure there's a slew of new things I can learn.
So, if anyone has any thoughts on this workshop or if there's another route that would be better (different workshop or private teacher), I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks.
Jon
