Foster Brooks did some singing on Louisville
radio before he got famous, so it wouldn't surprise
me to know he really could sing.
Foster Brooks worked at WHAM radio in Rochester early in his career. Apparently he liked the area (maybe his wife was from the area) because he maintained a summer home just south of Rochester. When he was in town he made himself available to the local media for any charitable events. He did PSA's and appeared on Jerry Lewis, Easter Seals, etc. marathons. I talked to him several times. He was a very nice guy. Just seemed like one of the guys and always up for a good joke.
One of my favorite appearances he made was playing a drunk in a bar talking to Arnold Ziffle (dressed in a pilot's costume) on Green Acres. We actually had an intellectual conversation about that!
