Top of The Hour..did I miss this

I know i've been out of the radio loop up until now, and did i miss something? there's a station down here in Northwest Florida, Fly 92.1...it's Quantum cluster..for the past week or so, their top of the hours are done by the DJs....for instance, "Fly 92/1..blah blah..Destin, Fort Walton..bla bla, and you're listening to the (dj currently onair) on Fly 92.1 ...is this possibly a new thing or just cheaping out to pay someone to do some imaging
 
Personally I enjoy giving the top of the hour when on air, and I enjoy hearing it by the jock live.

I have a picture of Erica's old jeep. If she says I can post it I will. Then you can decide if she fixed it or not. lol
 
that jeep only had 14 thousand miles on it..R.I. P ....along with mike roberts nice sunglasses that were all bashed up...I've kept the wkrpfm plates on the front and bat my eyelashes hen cops give me a hard time..but back to the subject---this isn't the live dj doing the top of the hour..this is another jock, with the call letters, towns, bla blah blah an "you're listening to (insert jock's name....just seemed very off.

I'm just glad you made it out OK Erica. I saw a pic of your new jeep somewhere. Either on Myspace or Mike Roberts sent it to me.

Regarding the top of the hour thing..... it seems strange enough that there isn't an official VO guy doing the ID. It seems twice as strange to have another jock do it during someone elses shift. I don't get it. It kind of sounds like some PD who is just trying to be creative and do things a little differently. Lots of times management doesn't make any sense. Therefore half of what they do usually doesn't make sense either.
