Of course, I say this tongue in cheek. :)

Kabc wishes it was number 3. But as far as interest of the failed kabc interest is high. But i really do enjoy kcsn. Wonder y all the staff changes?

At one time when the board was in its infancy the unquestioned #1 would have been KDL. ("They should bring it back; Dance WILL work, they just didn't do it right; if it was only on a good signal; blah, blah, blah") No amount of ratings facts nor radio programming basics presented to these fanboys could get them to change their minds, or for that matter, stop posting!

Talk about tedious...

Yeah, but there's also the question of what's left to talk about with the good, successful, profitable stations---by the way, KFI is on that list, too.

But we could see how much discussion KOST, KRTH, KTWV, KBIG and JACK can generate. Actually, we did KRTH for years and I kinda hope we've settled on "it's working brilliantly, thank you."

And that the insiders programming today's successful, profitable stations have a lot more on their plate than radio geeks think and either don't know of this board, aren't reading this board -- except for laughs -- or are reading this board but not posting on it because it's a waste of time to try to explain radio in the 2010s to a crowd that's obsessed with radio of many decades past or with niche musical formats.

Because KFI gets a lot of mentions on this board. The station does well 25-54 and with the old farts as well. Well except for me. I don't listen to it much except for an occasional news break.

KMET seems to be in the running of most talked about defunct FM station in Los Angeles .

For KIIS it's mentioned as the sample on how iHeartRadio makes their CHR's successful all around the country plus the discussion top revenue producing station in the USA in the same line and how KIIS competes against WTOP for revenue though.

KFI is now way down in the 25-54 ranking, closer to 20th than to 15th. It's a combination of aging talk demographics and the fact that the average age of Hispanics in the market has increased; Hispanics under-index in usage of "old white guy" talk radio.

KFI averaged around 18th in 25-54, ranging from 14th to 20th in each individual month, over the last four months.

Ok. It was February 2012 when John and Ken were suspended (and in my opinion, subsequently muzzled) for the whole Whitney Houston situation. See if you can pick a book before that and make an apples to apples comparison, both for J&K and the station as a whole as you have here. I bet they were doing a lot better then. That said, that is not the only difference between now and then, there are several other differences, a few I can list here:

1) Demographics - so many people that were J&K listeners have voted with their feet and taken residence in other states. The middle-class outflow from California (especially SoCal) is one of the most underreported local stories of the last 10 years.

2) Related to #1 - those same people largely voted Republican and in 2012 there was still some lingering hope amongst these listeners that sanity may one day come to Sacramento (J&K mostly rail about local and state issues, not too much national ones, at least for their pet causes) and J&K was their mouthpiece and spokesmen. With Democrats now enjoying a super-majority in the Legislature and sitting comfortably in the Governor's chair, their audience knows that J&K's railings no longer have any effect. They cannot shame, embarrass and harass local and state politicians to bend to their will like they once could.

3) KEIB - KEIB has only a fraction of the old KFI numbers, but those hard core conservative listeners (that still remain) are KFI's former core listeners who would tune in for hours from Handel and Rush in the morning, through Dr. Laura to J&K. That is a lot of TSL to let go. Now with Rush and Hannity both on KEIB, hard core conservatives have no reason to tune in KFI any more.

4) The overall talent level of KFI is simply not the same any more. Handel seems like a shell of his former self and the middayers just don't stack up. Therefore, J&K do not have the audience lead in numbers like they used to have.

In any case, the numbers comparison would be most interesting indeed.

Which is why I don't understand why they would talk politics when its not going to attract the audience other topics might. The challenge for talk shows and stations, primarily in blue cities, is to come up with a SHOW that entertains without relying on the easy crutch of conservative politics. I think talk shows have gotten lazy. I think NPR has learned how to do that, and the ratings show it's effective.

KFWB in past years was discussed when they were all news in the LA radio market. KNX from CBS ownership to Entercom ownership is still discussed though.
