Top Seattle Stations

Since listeners are being told to read this Board, here
is a bit of truth in the midst of the stream of odd posts
over the last couple of days:

1. The top stations in Seattle rarely change year to year
(four arbitron rating books) Some stations come on and make
a quick splash like JACK, The Point, The Beat, Mix, but quickly
go away. Seattle has solid performing stations year after year.

2. The top adult stations in the mornings are KZOK and KMPS.
They have been for some time.

3. The top male stations in mornings are KZOK and used to be
Howard Stern. That will change this time around with Stern gone.

4. The top female stations in mornings are KMPS, KPLZ, KRWM.

5. Teens and 18-34 are ruled by KUBE all day long, including mornings.
No one is even close to them. In the last trend T-MAN had two to three
times the numbers of the next closest stations KBKS and KNDD.

6. The AM dial is controlled by KIRO, KVI and KOMO. 66% of their
audience is over the age of 50.

The only reason the male 25-54 prime ratings will change is that Howard
Stern has left FM radio. Other than that Seattle radio has been very stable.
New competitors have not had any long term impact in over a decade. This may
be the most consistent market in America. Be careful what you read on this
site!

Amen Brother! A year ago I'd have disagreed with you,
but not anymore. I have seen these old line stations
win and win big, just when you'd thought they were down.
Still think they sound out of date, but I'm a radio guy
not a listener.

the only reason that this is true is because KUBE is the ONLY rap/ hip hop station brodcasting in this area. If you add up the totals of all the rock stations together it surpasses the rap listeners. I'm just a bit tired of teens being labled as "rap loving thugs". It's not a personal attack on you, because I think that you have some very good points. I just wanted to voice my concern for the faulted rating system.
