Also songs like "Use Somebody" were 2009 weren't they? I understand that song gets lots of airplay in 2010 as a recurrent, but Kings of Leon put out a new record for 2010, and that song "Radioactive" is #57 and should be higher, IMO. I see a lot of songs that were on some other stations' 2009 list.

Here is the list for Channel 92.3 KSJO San Jose. I really like this station, they are interactive with the listeners, play lots of newer indie/alternative artists and don't lean heavy on the hard rock like we've seen so many stations do. In fact they are more similar to WFNX in Boston.

^I'm guessing Chicago doesn't have an Active Rock, cause that Alternative station looks like it's doubling both formats
We really don't. I think, technically, WLUP is supposed to be Active Rock. But considering that I almost always hear classic rock on there when I turn it on, I'd say it's classic rock. Then we have WXRT, which technically is AAA. It, too, plays some classic rock. (More than enough of the classic rock already!) However, it's also the only station in town that touches a number of the top alternative songs and artists. Temper Trap, Florence + The Machine, Arcade Fire, Phoenix, Broken Bells, Jack Johnson, MGMT, Passion Pit, Vampire Weekend -- WXRT plays them. Q101 doesn't touch them. Heck, even my nephew's wife, who lives in a small town in Southern Indiana, has heard Vampire Weekend and loves their song "Horchata".atlantaboy said:

I guess the difference being an Active Rocker (like WAAF in Boston or WXTB in Tampa) has a lot more currents than a Mainstream Rocker like WLUP which relies a lot (60-70%) of classic rock artists. Yes, you'll hear the Foo Fighters and Godsmack, but you will also hear a LOT more Led Zeppelin, Ozzy and Pink Floyd. With that said, I think Q101 may try to make up for what WLUP doesn't play, but this doesn't mean they have to immerse their playlist in Active Rock if they are technically Modern Rock/Alternative. I think a direction similar to KROQ in LA or even The Buzz 103.1 in West Palm keeping some (KEYWORD: SOME) of the harder rock would work a lot better. The fact that they snubbed the alternative superhits of 2010 Mumford & Sons and Dirty Heads because they aren't "HARD ROCK" like the rest of their product tells you they really should reconsider the alternative branding.

Our Alternative station (99X) is all about Mumford & Sons, Florence, Temper Trap, 30 Seconds To Mars, Black Keys, Neon Trees, etc. - but I think that's cause we have an Active station that covers all the Chevelle, Godsmack, and Avenged Sevenfold, so our Alt. can focus on Indie and IMO "true Alternative"

Man, these stations have Sick Puppies, Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Flyleaf etc. all in their top 10! Chevelle, Shinedown and Trapt all over the place! They have NO Business calling themselves even close to "alternative" WHATSOVER! Just get it over with and call yourself Active Rock! This annoys me to no end...Man, Q101 seems like an Indie station compared to The Point and The Buzz Houston! Yuck!!
