2) Larry Wachs
3) Tim Andrews
4) Mike Bell
5) Tim Rhodes
6) Fin
7) Eric Von Haessler
8) Nick Cellini
9) Garret the 40 yr. old Intern
10) Jimmy Baron

It cracks me up how many lurkers are around here. 25 views and no different lists? [EDIT-vulgarity]

wow, really all those 96rock-no-longer-employed are the best? I think if you're going to make a list of 10 you should probably pick people that the station management keep and not easily discard. Greg Street, Neal Boortz, Bert Wise, Clark Howard, Rhubarb Jones, Kelly McCoy, ... I'm sure there are more, and those are in no order. The Regular Guys as a team should probably make the list, they got brought back. Steve McCoy did 26 years in Atlanta, that's got to be worth something.

I think 25 people were stunned that you ranked your formr co-Regular Guy only seventh.

1. Tim Andrews
2. Larry Wachs
3. Eric Von Haessler
4. Denis O'Hayer
5. Kim Peterson
6. Pete Davis
7. Wayne No Offense
8. Steve Rickman
9. Dave Paul
10. Ike Newkirk

Honorable mention: Keith Kalland, Sydney Velour, Mal Murray

Clark Howard and Kelly McCoy are good calls. Boortz obviously has a tremendous shtick, but as far as on the mic goes, he stammers and mispronounces more than the 2 Live Stews.

And while I'm on the topic: What's up with the Stew's "Dogs and Poodles" description of their audience? That's akin to saying: "Cars and Corvettes", "Golf Clubs and 9 Irons", or "Beers and Heinekens". It's redundant and idiotic...then again, it's the Stews.

Answered your own question.

With all those Clear Channel people named, I guess the Prophet "Dj Killer" show get an honorable mention.

I'm no expert but dogs + poodles might mean "gentlemen + ladies". Using the liquor analogy, it might equal "beer + Zimas".

Not that this has any value, but here is my list, in order.

1. Boortz
2. Bert Wise
3. Kelly McCoy
4. Larry Wachs
5. Jimmy Baron
6. Dave Paul
7. Ike Newkirk
8. Steve Rickman
9. Eric Von Haessler
10. Rhubarb Jones

Ok, I'll play. (past and present)

1) Boortz
2) Hannity
3) McKee
4) Clark Howard
5) Aubrey Morris
6) Skinny Bobby
7) Larry Munson
9) O' Hayer
10) Randy and Spiff

What a lame list!
Here is the REAL list of Boss Jocks.....not in order.
1. Mark McCain
2. Steve Mitchell
3. Garo McKee
4. Skinny Bobby
5. Rubarb
6. H. Johnson
7. Ally Pat
8. Ross "B for Boogie" Brittian
9. John Young
10. Red Jones

Good call on Mark McCain and Steve Mitchell. McCain, Mitchell and everyone else involved with the original Wake Up Crew on 96Rock had the best morning show ever in Atlanta... hands down. Remember Bullwinkle's poetry corner? How about Mr. T?("Gazebos are for wimps, sissies and fools!") That was real radio...

You should know. It is you, and this is pitiful self promotion trying to generate conversation about yourself. It goes on all the time on this board. Welcome to the club.

Since someone mentioned Randy and Spiff on one of their lists, I though I would post this link so you can see the one and only Randy and Spiff animated cartoon adventure. It was produced and posted on the WGST website, about a week before Spiff was let go, so after that it came down.

http://insanityisland.com/randyandspiff/FINAL EPISODE01/RS Episode01.html

Also, we did TWO animated cartoon episodes starring Kimmer and Wayne (no offense) as superheroes battling hippie liberals as well, we would have done a third, but then Kimmer left! Hmmmmmmm ::) ::) ::)

Fun list to try and do, but my list can't fit into 10. I keep seeing great talent for formats other than my professional format that deserve to be on a list because they delivered. A lot of radio folks only see the world thru the eyes of their format.
If we had a top 40 list it would look one way. If the 96 Crowd wants to keep their legacy alive that's fine too.
But in the big picture of radio and how it touches a lot of people from all walks of life, you acknowledge the McKee McCoy Rhubarb thing and add a Scott Slade. He was great at WAYS in Charlotte and came to Atlanta to do Z93 and made a great career move. If you want a list of stars in their format you have to include everybody from Frank Ski to Capn Herb. And if you want to talk "who listeners love" well, Steve harvey and Tom Joiner would be there, with Munson & Kimmer.

I think Larry means for a current list but it's fun to go back and see a Don Rose come thru Atlanta and make a huge mark with KFRC. How Ross and Wilson left Z93 and went directly to WABC New York. Not exactly "biting the dust."At one time Mike Roberts and Robin Roberts (now on Good morning America) pulled big numbers at V103.
Red Jones was a classic on WQXI and Tony the Tiger. Every CHR guy listened to John Leader.

I love the memories but hate ...honestly HATE that some very talented guys like from Larry to Spiff and soon Steve McCoy are on the street. GThis could go on all night. It's all subjective. I'd predict the list will vary even more if we were quiet and let regular listeners make their list. I've always been amazed who people remember and why. It's often NOT the guy who is format perfect. Sometimes it's a Moby.

I'm just a radio junkie leaving town next weekend to see my hero Dan Ingram inducted into the radio hall of fame. An interesting list would be to ask folks who are in or were in the business: WHO INSPIRED YOU? Who made you want to do this? Now THAT would be a list.

Nice to see that some of the people of these lists have been inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame. Not ALL the great names on Georgia radio have been nominated or inducted. It's up to the members to nominate them and vote on them. That information may be found at www.grhof.com.

A note of interest, Randy Robins, former WQXI jock ( and Georgia resident)will be inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. Congratulations Randy!

Here is my current list-

1- Scott Slade (WSB)
2- Clark Howard
3- Boortz
4- Greg Fitzgerald (WJZZ)- Perfect for mornings
5- Ryan Cameron (V103)
6- Randy Cook (WGST- though he would be higher WITH Spiff)
7- Tripp West (Star 94)
8- Rhubarb Jones (Eagle 106.7)
9- Mark Arum (WSB- Love his talk show on the weekends- a PURE talent)
10- Mara Davis (DAVE-FM)

Yes- not your normal list. Talk amongst yourselves...

Love seeing Ross "Boggie" Brittan on the list. Remember when he was on WREK and read the news over Cab Calloway's "Reefer Man"? That was great. Even better were his days on WIIN.

By the way: Rex Patton, if you are reading this, I lent you a cassette of my call-ins to your Ross and Rex show around 1977 and never got it back. I really would like to get it back for my collection.
