Top Ten on-air talents in Atlanta?

Traficstud, I'm amazed I agree with everyone on your list except for one, and I also agree with your comments (Greg Fitzgerald, etc.). Glad you recognize Tripp West as a top talent.

I would add several people though I know I'm going over 10: Bert Show-Q, Adam Bomb (very solid CHR guy)-Q, Searcy-Hot 107-9, Porche-V, Kelly McCoy-B98.5, Cadillac Jack-Kicks.

You're right about Kelly, Searcy, and Cadillac Jack. If we could add more, I would add those 3. Now, if I could bring up the past (and I only go so far as 2000, when I moved here), I personally loved Craig Hunt (Star 94 PM drive guy), and Mitch Elliot (Fox 97).

I wish Craig Hunt was still doing afternoon drive on Star. He was one of my favorites and a good guy in real life. Star lost me in afternoons when they went to the 2-person show.

Your lists should go in order of the top performing jock in conjunction with the rank of the station. A top talent gets results and it's only fair to start with who's at the #1-10 stations and is #1 at their station.

This is a survey of the folks that monitor this board- not based on Arbitron. Abritron is a random survey- just like this. Everyone's tastes are different- just like those that fill out the diaries.

Please help me out here: What was the Atlanta copter traffic guy that was so entertaining? He passed on to the big jam in the sky a couple of years ago, but used phrases like "Roadside BBQ" for car fires and would finish with "Stick a fork in it." For years, I felt he was much more creative and entertaining than the DJs. He made bad traffic fun to listen to.

One other suggestion: Will Pendarvis

He hosted nights on 99X back in the early 90's and was one of the most confusingly genius hosts I've ever heard. I spent too many nights just listening because I didn't have any idea what he would do next.

Rhubarb, Randy & Spiff, Skinny Legs, Craig Ashwood, Mitch Elliott, all stand up guys and terrific talent.

I'll go with some old timers since I don't listen to much local radio anymore.

1. Ross and Wilson Hot New Z93
2. Pete Davis.. WGST
3. Kelly McCoy WSB FM
4. Dave Baker WSB Radio
5. Kim Peterson WGST
6. Forrest Sawyer WGST
7. Dick Hemby WSB Radio
8. Ludlow Porch WSB Radio
9. Dave Cohen WGST/WCNN
10. John Lisk WGST/WCNN

Honorable Mention... Chris Dimino, Al Ciraldo, Bob Bailey, Mark McCain, Gary McKee

No suggested order in my top ten, just a list. Disclaimer.. I worked with Cohen and Lisk at WCNN, McCoy and Baker at WSB.. FWIW

"Honorable Mention... Chris Dimino, Al Ciraldo, Bob Bailey, Mark McCain, Gary McKee"

Just curious: what exactly do you find good about Dimino's broadcasting skills?

Keith Kalland is the name you are thinking of.

in no particular order ....

Dekker (underused)
Mara Davis
Tim Andrews (underused)
Neil Bortz
Eric VonHessler
Margot ? (dave)
Gary Mckee (good memories)
Rubarb Jones
Reverand Andy ? (ablum88)
Dave Chamberlain

i have a lot of fond memories from the olden golden days. i like some of the DJs not really in the limelight, they put a lot of effort into their work. i'm ecclectic. ;D

If only Mara Davis could sound a little more Jewish, she would've made my list. Way too vanilla.

She's talking with her hands every break. For Christ sake Larry.....what do you want?
And what's wrong with vanilla? It's kosher.....
Glad to see Dave Chamberlin fron WRFG mentioned....and, of course, Andy from 88. I wonder if Mike Wheeler is gonna let him (Andy/88)talk on DAVE?(Maybe with his hands too?)

Just curious, when did sounding Jewish make for better radio skills?

I heard Dimino this morning interviewing Ric Flair. At one point he asked him what was the "llittle-est" amount of money he ever made for a wrestling appearance. Then he repeated "little-est" as he rephrased the question. That was special.

1. john pruitt
2. boortz
3. o'hair at WGST/WXIA
4. monica
5. Rude at 96Rock
6. Kincade
7. Vicki
8. Steve Mccoy
9. Kelly Mccoy
10. Hulinger

Now why would I have to specify RADIO for this?

And I know you're kidding about Kincaid. Good one.
