Torg Suspended

Glad that the station that is "all great things about THE Ohio State Buckeyes" finally stood up for someone from the state up north and did the "right thing" in suspending Torg.

Torg was dumb to do it. Herbstreit pouring fire on the situation yesterday did not help. He's used his bully pulpit for so long to act high and mighty above us dummies in Columbus that I'm not surprised, though.

I know "let him live" is one of those stupid things they plug in regularly, but from whence does it come?

I am quite tired of the "my guys!" from so many of their callers.

Ah, so that's why his (now-deleted) Twitter handle was "@MyGuyTheTorg"...

Sad, cause that's who he is on the show. If anything though, it will establish the show to a whole other level. CM and Torg is a very entertaining show. He banters at Colin Cowherd too. Maybe he's the Howard Stern or Don Imus of sports radio!!! That is a joke btw!

The Fan just confirmed it on Facebook. I'm sorry, but I don't think that's a fireable offense. He's been suspended for 10 days. Point taken.

Being as conservative as the The Fan is this is no surprise to me. They uphold their employes to
very high standards. Never heard of him and don't care but was curious if he would be let go
by the company.

97.1 The Fan

Effective today, Scott Torgerson is no longer employed by our company. We appreciate his contributions at the station and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Opie & Anthony also lost their radio show after serving a long suspension for their "Sex For Sam" stunt. I guess tweeting mortal fantasies carry the same penalty as encouraging a couple to go at it in a church. :-\

I do plan to listen this afternoon simply for the aftermath. But given this decision, I don't plan to listen to 97.1 too much more outside Buckeye game coverage. I can get ESPN Radio from other outlets. Guessing ESPN threatened to strip 97.1 and 1460 of their affiliation?

I am surprised. I listen frequently, and the entire show is one sarcastic jab after another mixed in among burp, fart, and booger jokes. I think Twitter did him in. If he had said it on the air and not direct, (via twitter) he would have had his hand slapped, but not fired. Apparently sarcasm is lost through the keystrokes of Twitter.
