Tornado aftermath

Those tornadoes in the Raleigh area were really damaging, especially in the Sanford area and in downtown Raleigh itself. How has the radio coverage been? I know WRAL FM has been simulcasting WRAL TV, along with 99.9 FM. I don't know if Channel 11's coverage has been simulcasted.

How is coverage in the area?
 
I heard 106.1 briefly simulcasting someone this afternoon (channel 17 maybe?) but it was not on for long before they went back into reruns of Rush.

I only punched around but besides WRAL/WCMC and WPTF I heard absolutely nothing but music.
 
WRAL simulcasted WRAL TV until 6:30. 106.1 had spotty coverage, maybe from channel 17. 101.1 also had someone on for a while.

I thought music stations had good coverage. 96 Rock was strong until 7, when they went to automation for the night. Pulse 102 had someone on live and gave updates here and there between songs, although they really shined with their efforts on Facebook! I didn't here anything on 100.7 at all. G105 was also live all afternoon and evening, though like Pulse coverage was just comments here and there between songs. 103.9 actually took live calls throughout the afternoon from listeners which was unique and fun to listen to. I wish more stations were as interactive with listeners as Pulse was (online) and the Light was (on air).

Edit: 88.9 is off air. Pulse 102 and G105 are still live now at 11:00 p.m.
 
^ Shaw was hit hard so it's not surprising 88.9 is not on the air.

When I said WPTF I kind of figured that their ball was the one the rest of the Curtis Stations ran with. There's good people there who do very good coverage. I can't get 103.9 so I didn't know about that one.

As far as G105 etc... the thing is that little bits of information while trying to hit the post on the next song is pretty much useless to anyone who actually wants the coverage.

106.1 should have just gone wall-to-wall. Channel 17 isn't the best but at least it's something. They are pretty much driving people to 680.
 
With WRAL's live streaming buffering a lot, I decided to listen to their audio feed on Mix 101.5. I checked in on the Clear Channel owned stations in Raliegh with my I Heart Radio app and none of the stations had wall to wall weather coverage (the news station might have but they were playing a commercial).
 
Quite a few radio stations in and near downtown Raleigh were silenced, though most are back up as of Monday afternoon.

I counted the following:

WETC 540 AM (transmitter on, but dead air here and on their simulcast with WDUR 1490 AM in Durham)
WQDR 570 AM
WAUG 750 AM
WPJL 1240 AM
WCLY 1550 AM
WSHA 88.9 FM

With the exception of WQDR and WCLY, which diplex off a tower on Maywood Avenue (which was very near the middle of the twister), the others are back on.
 
I was afraid that was the case, but hadn't heard anything before today. That tower was ground zero for Saturday's deadly twister.
