Toss 'em out Tuesday

And they know the story will be buried on Tuesday...what cowards.

If it happens, I'm sure Jerry Del Colliano will keep pounding on it (he already is).

R&R and All Access have also been playing it up.

I know we'll make sure it gets tons-o-column space here on R-I. Maybe a
headline similar to the famous one in the New York Daily News in the 1970s:
"Ford to NYC: Drop Dead."

Or resurrect Col. Klink from the departed, so he can yell "Hogannnnnn!!!" ;)

And hope somebody from the mainstream drive-by media notices it and
runs with it.

Seven percent cuts with extra scrutiny on sales and local programming that can be replaced with syndicated material. Hmmmm...Nurse Jeff and I wonder how much longer KFWhyEye can justify a two hour local shift that's only Nearly Famous? Of course we've been wondering for some time when all of this will catch up at TMISU's KT'R and it's bloated payroll.

I dont think KFYI will get hit hard. No one there makes big money. I think KEZ KNIX will be the targets. Jakoobs and the not famous 1 make pocket change compared to the other morn shows in the building.

yah it's pretty bad out there. I currently (used to) export for 15 different CC stations throughout the country and was just given notice that my services were not needed anymore.

At first I was completely against the idea of voice tracking many years ago, until I was told that this was the only way to keep my job. Now that is not enough for the company. I even spoke to my local GM and said I was willing to take a pay-cut. No Dice ???

What are the chances that Johnjay and Rich get blown out on Tuesday? Anyone think they're up on the chopping block? CC could save money there by pipping in Ryan Seacrest. JJ&R are just a poor knockoff of Ryan Seacrest anyway in my opinion. It doesn't make any sense having Seacrest on Movin'. Even Jesus on the air couldn't save that station. Kiss would be a better fit. In the long run the only stations I see doing well are Kiss and Power in that format. Thoughts?

No actually they might put JJ&R on more stations in the near future. They can't put Seacrest on in am drive anyways, his show airs middays and pm drive.

John Gorman is trying to let CC employees know how much severance they're promised via an SEC filing.

I beg to differ. Jacobs and the Nearly Famous one make some big bucks, but their shows also have big ratings and generate revenue--whereas Ben & Brian aren't a heritage morning show, the cost cutting will be some middle management positions, promotions and some weekend shifts.

While there is a very obvious hatred for ClearChannel on these boards and in many circles of radio--mostly unjustified--it is safe to say that some good people willbe finding themselves out of a job.

Terrestrial radio in general has itself to blame unfortunately.

Would KFYI, get rid of the smuck in pm drive and move either Barry or Bruce to PM drive? The other gets am drive. That gets rid of one air shift

...and have the Nearly Bald One demand a 50% raise for a 50% longer shift? Not likely.

No they should fire people who are rude like that Dennys manager. Dont know why rude people are allowed to continue working and others innocently get hurt in the end like this.

Cowardice is a corporation plotting (or should I say, premeditating) a massacre of 7% of its staff on one set date-- and a day you know would get lost in the news of the inauguration.

Cowardice is a corporation that never gave the opportunity to take a pay cut when there still could have been time.

... Creating a poor work environment of fear and queasy stomachs. And most importantly, showing any sort of appreciation for the dedicated and talented employees that keep things running.

It's hard to have any respect for that.

I wish everyone well... Keep your heads up. There will come a day when things look bright again. Terrestrial radio has the advantages over all other mediums!

Drive-by media - EXACTLY!

And as far as the Nearly Famous Barry Young, he is THE BEST. These past few days, in addition to Coast to Coast A.M, Barry Young is pretty much all I listen to now on A.M. (even though I agree with what many of the other hosts on kfyi have to say because they do seem to speak pure logic). Sometimes I just need a break from it all though, and that's when I turn to KTAR, to hear a bit more variety in talk.

I do wish there would be an additional third hour of Barry Young, and I'm a bit disappointed with the removal of Leo Laporte, the Tech Guy... but both Barry Young and Leo Laporte have podcasts, so I'm still content.

I agree about Barry Young having the best local talk show and the loss of Leo La Porte. Glad I was wrong about KFYI taking a hit on Inaugeration Day and I'm sorry for the losses at the CC sports station.
