Total Price on Double O Sale

Now that the deal has been filed with the Commission, we know the price Davis Media is paying for the Double O stations and have a sense of what stick values are in the market.

Total Price: $1.1 million for both WWNQ/WWNU. Deposit of $300k, $600k at closing, 3 year note for the remaining $200k.

Looks like the Inner City creditors got a sweet deal for WZMJ.

What a bargain! They probably spent six million to put those two on. Not to mention how much money they put in to running them. Double O took a major bath!

Will 92.1/94.3 finally get some decent programming on them under the new ownership? A locally-driven CHR to give WNOK a run for its money would be fantastic.

Do any of Davis owned stations stream? Would like to see what they sound like if they do. I really liked the sound Carolina 92 had when they first launched. It reminded me a lot of what Movin' Easy sounded like on Sirius, but now sounds like a total mess. The problem with both the Double O Stations under Double O's control was the formats were never given TLC and were never let to grow like they should have. You can hook a computer up to a transmitter in a small town and it might work, but Columbia although market 89 is not big city type radio the programming should have been given a lot more attention then it was given thus the weak ratings on both the stations. I wish Davis good luck with the new venture and maybe they can atleast give things a chance to grow and heck might even do something different with their new properties... CC1

My boss up here on the Outer Banks knows Davis. Says he's a nice guy who knows how to find his niche in a competitive market...even with stations with signal problems. I expect him to come in to Columbia and do his own thing....normally a recipe for disaster in Columbia radio...the difference this time is Davis seems to have an open mind about opportunities in Columbia rather than trying to jam a formulaic approach down the listeners' collective throats.

I assume that Davis will try something there that has not been tried unsuccessfully before and assume Uncle Tim won't be a part of it. I wish him luck and we need something fresh here in Columbia radio, and that doesn't include Good Morning Columbia.

Scott:

I think the key these days is to be an owner/operator in the market. They got a bargain and hopefully will play nice with the rest of us independents.

I could only hope CAROLINARADIO! They should make it CHR in the day, and at night lean CHR/RHY. after 10pm move to Dance/House MIX. Just right for 18-34/25-54W and pull a big 12+

If Davis knows how to find his niche in a competitive market, This is it!

I say call it (Jammin 92) or (Power 92 Jamz) or (92 Jamz).

Davis,
If you use this, I just might reach out to you! "Good luck" ;)

I think the docs set a November closing date. That was a little unusual, since most give a date as within 30 days of all regulatory approvals having been granted and received.

First step will be FCC granting the transfer. That should be pro-forma. After that, it would be the satisfactory resolution of any outstanding issues (if any). We don't know if there are any or not because those exhibits are excluded from the filing.
