Toucher and Rich - Free FM Phoenix

Alright, I have to say I really enjoyed this show. I wish I would've known earlier when they were on earlier in the week but glad I got the last show. They sound very prepared for their show much more than say Frosty Heidi and Frank on Free FM. They talked about how they all know eachother but have never done a radio show together. They did mention they have received a ton of emails from listeners in phoenix urging management to hire them on full time! I think this would be a wise move since Phoenix Free FM does not have any local shows at all. In my opinion I would have them on following Leykis at 8 and then if the show takes off, then move them to pm drive and bump Leykis back to evenings followed by Hendrie. Some of the bits they had:

They wired one of the guys up and had him in a mens lockerroom asking another guy how to get six pack abs, pretty hysterical!

They had a news update which had a phoenix spin on it

They played each guys worst songs that are on their IPOD and of course ragged on them!

They had a ask Crash segment with callers asking him various questions.

They had a segments "how the hell did I get home drunk". Had callers talk about if they were out drinking and they don't know how the hell they got home. It kinda tied into being on from 11p-2a Lol

All in all the show was very funny, entertaining and they really seemed to know what they were doing and had a good time on the air.

Now the bad part, I don't have the ability to upload any recordings but I did record the entire last show. If someone on here has the ability to transfer a tape copy to a mp3 file and load it up for everyone, let me know and I will shoot you off a tape copy of the last show on tuesday.

I really hope they get the gig in phoenix, just what our Free FM needs!

Most of this sounds like it was cribbed from The Regular Guys Show which has pounded them in the ratings for years. What will they do for material when they move to Phoenix? Get up early and listen to the internet stream, I suppose.

If they do, are you really going to argue with it? I think it's for the better that they're peddling their *goods* out there - hopefully Phoenix hasn't heard too much of it before.
What are your plans should they make the move?

Of course, a great deal of THAT was taken from other morning shows first. Larry would cruise the website of other shows and take bits (Alky Ho, which current management probably frowns upon, for example came from Lex and Terry).

Is this terrible?

Depends on your point of view. Listeners don't care. They're driving to go work at a job they hate, probably sucking on a menthol cough drop to hide the smell of dope or Shlitz that they have to put down just to tolerate the place-- and they just want a giggle or guffaw from time to time. Don't care if it's someone else's bit.

Other jocks? It leaves a really bad taste in our mouths, but we're not the "client", the listener is. Well, not in the this Scared New World of radio. Way too often the material between the commericals is presented for those who pay for the commericals. Listener is now not a part of the equation. For example-- with the Alky Ho bit, I know that the beer sponsors really, really hated the bit. In fact, Bud (I believe) would pull their spots the morning of the Alky Ho and the producer had to go through each stop set to make sure they'd been removed. You lose that money long enough, well, we all see the result.

Shite, this was about Toucher originally. Yeah, he sucks. Okay, he doesn't, but he's WAY over-rated. I think there's talent there but he needs a really good coach to learn how to use it. I don't expect he'll ever get one. Here's a quick tip for him that's really, really hard to learn for most of us (including yours truly)-- it's okay for someone else on the show to be funny. You don't have to try and top them... because a lot of times you won't, and it just takes away from the first joke.

Good luck to the guys in Phoenix anyhow. Good market. John Jay and Rich (great, great guys) are there and they love the area.

Man I can tell you that we in Atlanta ar glad you got him. At first Toucher was funny and then he just started complaining about everything. He was a miserable human being and unentertaining.

I feel bad for Rich because he is GOOD and he is gonna get taken down by the most unhappy person in ATL radio. Or was in ATL radio. Toucher was about to lose his job because the station is getting bought out and the new owners know he sucks.
