I gave a listen to this show and posted a review on the atlanta board. I really hope they get the gig at Free FM. If they do , I would like to see Free FM possibly put them in the 8-11 slow or even 3-6 and move Leykis and Hendrie back a bit. They had great chemistry on the air, were really prepared for the show, and took a good amount of calls. They did say they had been getting alot of feedback from free fm website for management to hire them on full time. Lets hope Free FM Phoenix gets a local show :)

Energyfan, we love you but I don't get the continued call for a local show? Leykis is live as he always is on western U.S. CBS hot talkers. Some may not like him, but he's the top-rated show in the format and for most of the stations he's on. He's not getting delayed. Ever. Phil Hendrie, perhaps, but if Premiere wanted a delayed clearance in the middle of the night, they could have stayed at Xtra.

I just think for a talk station to work you need some local content. It is very easy to put on a syndicated lineup for all day and all night but a local show would I think add something too the station. It is true that many phoenix callers get through on all the free fm shows but still think would be a great thing to have a show that is based in phoenix and can talk about what is going on in phoenix. I have tried listening to Hendrie and just don't care for the show. He is very talented and very funny but I would perfer to listen to a local show in the evening rather than another syndicated show. Thats it, just like some variety on my talk station.

Well, providing CBS isn't adverse to spending a few bucks on evening talent, history shows that this format has a short tolerance for Mr. Hendrie's schtick. I think the only place he's lasted very long on hot talkers is Portland, OR and Portland, ME (albeit for overnights).

I really don't say this to be hurtful, but I just didn't find Toucher and Rich to be friendly, interesting, informative or funny. It's been a long time since I've been so unimpressed with a radio act.
It's odd, but I knew azenergyfan would like them, because I didn't. Our tastes are so consistently opposite that if I find we both enjoy the same program, I'll probably have a heart attack.
Anyway, I'd much rather hear any of the syndicated talk they have than Toucher and Rich, and it has nothing to do with localism. I just didn't find them the least bit entertaining.
They may be the nicest guys in the world for all I know, and I don't wish them any ill will. Wouldn't even want to see them lose their Atlanta gig; everybody needs to make a buck. But I hope we can get better talent in the Phoenix market.

I had to laugh at your post multiplex! You know I love ya! We all got different tastes and that what makes radio interesting! Question for ya.. if you had your choice to fill the 11p-5a time slot, who would you plug in there? Any other local talent you think kzon should go after or what other syndicated talent would you like? Are you a fan of John and Jeff? just curious :)

Well, azenergyfan, that's a very good question. I get John and Jeff on XM, and I do like them better than most Free FM offerings, although that's like saying I like broccoli better than sour milk.
I like Dead Air Dave and Co. much better than T. and R, but I've enjoyed his work on the two Edges, too.
I'd also like to hear Chuck Powell and Vince Mirada (sp?", who worked so well
together on KGME and KEDJ.
Practically speaking, though, I'm not in Free FM's target demographic, so if I don't like them, they're probably doing something right.
However, people I know who were Zone listeners haven't stayed with them, and they _are_ younger, but just aren't impressed. Not because it's talk, but just the general content leaves 'em cold.
When I know people who go out of their way to tell me how icky Free FM is -- when I've never even indicated an interest, one way or the other -- I've gotta wonder whether it's really resonating with people. But we shall see.
