Tower Down?

I was just sent a pic of what appears one of WYOS's (1360, formerly WKOP) towers bent and leaning. Anyone have any details?

Are you sure those aren't the pictures for WENY's towers in Elmira?

It was confirmed last night that WYOS lost a tower on Carman Road. Apparently, a guy wire was snagged by the tractor mowing the field.

When I worked at WINX AM16 in Rockville, MD (a suburb of Washington DC) the same thing happened to one of their towers. We had the only "S" shaped tower in town. The station had to change their nighttime 500 watt directional pattern to 300 omnidirectional because of the downed tower. During the summer it was great because of the Montgomery County Fair. The fairgrounds were only 5 miles north of the tower, but we could only broadcast live until 8 because of the pattern change. You could see the tower and not pick up the station. With 300 watts omnidirectional that summer we could stay live until 9.

Jon, where did you post the picture of the KOP tower that's down? I can't locate it on this site or the Binghamton Radio site.

On my Facebook page.

Sorry Jon. I went to Binghamtonradio.com and couldn't find it. Looked through your album "In the Trenches". Spent a couple of hours in it, great photos. Is the old WENE studio for the licensed monitor the towers/jocks still left at the transmitter building? I assume it's gutted but just curious if anything still remains.
