Tower Information

What station(s) uses the tower located at 2601 W. 8th Street? I thought it was an old time WSAI 1360 tower, but have also been told that the current WSAI towers have been around since the 1930s. Info please.

It's the old WSAI-FM tower. AKA WJDJ, WSAI-FM again, WWNK-FM, and perhaps another call or two.

The 94.1 signal now comes from the WKRC-TV tower, but they're licensed to use this tower as a backup.

This is currently the tower for WIZF, and may have been so when that station, then on 100.9, was known as WHKK.

The building that sits below it contained the old WSAI/WWNK studios. Great view of downtown.

Here's a link to a picture in an online map. You can barely see the antenna bays.
The FCC says the three top ones are for 94.1, the two below it for 101.1:

WSAI' s three towers are in norhern Kentucky...breifly at the WCKY site when it was "Real Oldies 1530 WSAI" but have returned to the previous site.
WSAI originally transmitted from Mason,Ohio in the beginning before 'ol man Crosley planted his WLW Blaw-Knox tower there. He had to sell off WSAI in the 1940s and the transmitter moved to the northern Kentucky site.

WDBZ is on the old Police tower in Eden Park. You can see it above Columbia Parkway across the river from Bellevue with a fast blinking beacon.

Before they moved to that tower as WDJO around 1989, the old tower was on top of the Daylight Building at the foot of Mount Adams. That building is now home to Hixson Architects.

Speaking of towers, I noticed that the tower that will be used for the new 95.7 has a new addition on it. Things must be moving along.

Yes. You beat me to the punch.
I noticed over the weeked a slender, about 10 foot or so metal bar, was placed at the very top of the tower in Sharonville.
Almost looks like a digital television transmitter tower? I can see it clearly from my house near Reed-Hartman and Fields-Ertel.
Also, at night it the lights near the top are both in strobe and red flashing mode.....
Still don't know why the FCC website is still saying "application" for WHIO-FM 95.7.
Clearly something is going on in the background with all of this....anyone have any updates?

Hate to bring bad news, but...

The tower WHIO-FM is moving to is owned by New Par(Verizon Wireless). Last week, they modified one of their towers along 73 east of Oxford the same way; for a few days there was a long metal bar at the top of one of the sides. That metal bar just ended up supporting another bay of cellular antennas.

MAX-FM is on the WKOI-TV (43) tower, about 100 yards away (but significantly taller)

Sorry - Max-FM is indeed on the WKOI TV 43 tower but it's lnot located a few hundred feet away - it's located in Trenton, Ohio - quite a distance from Sharonville, Ohio.

The CP to move th 97.7 FM tower closer to Monroe, Ohio (new city of license will be Mason, Ohio) is almost expired and has been held up for many years by other 97.7 changes such as the move from Georgetown, Ohio to Salt Lick, Kentucky (already a done deal).

You might be thinking of the plans (rumors) for First Broadcasting to LMA the proposed WHIO-FM 97.5 from Cox and move Max-FM to Sharonville.
