Enjoying the vista driving north on 107 yesterday and wondered what station the self supporter belongs to on the ocean side, also, across the way a single pole with guy wires? are they together?
Thanks.

One tower is prob WLYN 1360...also I understand WESX 1230 moved to a COL of Nahant and that enabled them to put a stick in Lynn

Nope! AFAIK, the WLYN/WESX tower, which at one time was also home to WLYN-FM (currently WFNX but about to become something else), is guy-supported (and shunt fed by both stations, although WESX may be using a Folded Unipole, which is a more modern form of shunt feeding). I believe that WROL's tower, which is near the WLYN/WESX tower, is self-supporting. There used to be another tower in that general area. It had belonged to an FM on 105.3 licensed to Lynn. The calls of the station were originally WUPY and then later WUPI. The station was on the air for a couple of years max in the early '60s. After the station left the air, I believe the tower was leased out for non-broadcast uses. Within the last year or two, I think I read that the WUPY/WUPI tower had finally been dismantled.

That is WROL on the ocean side. The mini-pole opposite is a weather station, Someone is going to build a wind farm there.

WLYN tower

The self-supporting tower is, indeed, WROL-AM 950. Just because someone has over 12 THOUSAND posts, in no way indicates they ever have the
vaguest clue what they are talking about. WLYN's guyed 400 foot tower is located about another mile down the road, on the Lynn/Saugus line, located
in the middle of Cap's Auto Parts. A new transmitter was installed several years ago, along with a new ground system and other
extensive work at the site. The old FM antenna came down at that time. Photos of the site (and the station in general...) are available on the station
Facebook page: WLYN WAZN Boston.

I don't have 12k posts but give me time. I was talking about the Lynn stick...and I figured maybe WESX is on the same one, or maybe they put another up, but I know about WROL and figured that's what they meant by "on the ocean side". I was talking about Lynn though and was almost going to mention that but others beat me to it.

They were going to move it to the Revere side on the other side of the marsh but the locals complained.

For quite a while, ending several years ago, Salem (WROL's owner--that's Salem the company, not Salem the Mass city or the NH town) held a CP to add real (5 kW DA-N) night service (not the current 90W ND Class D night service) by changing WROL's CoL (to Revere, IIRC) and adding two towers to the Lynn Marsh Rd site. The proposal was technically flawed--not that it contained errors, just that it was of questionable value due to the required directional pattern, the coastal location (a blessing for the ND daytime operation), and the unavoidably high (37 mV/m) NIF value, dominated by WIBX and WPEN. In the meantime, WPEN increased its night power and changed its nighttime pattern, which would have reduced WROL's NIF. possibly enough that the NIF contour might have covered at least a small part of Boston. Anyhow, the proposed NIF contour covered mostly water and Salem cancelled the CP when it apparently decided that it didn't have proof of the existence of sufficient numbers of evangelical Christian fish in Mass Bay to make the full-power night service pay. The right night site for WROL would be that of Salem's own WWDJ 1150 in Lexington, but since that site is already also used by WAZN 1470, the cost of making it into a triplex would be prohibitive.

Too bad there aren't any pictures of either tower to help identify them on the web anywhere.
