Hi everyone,
I thought this might be an interesting topic to discuss. I’m sure that most of us are not only interested in radio, but the tower sites that are used to broadcast. For that reason, I think it would be interesting to share some photos of some of the unique sites in our respective regions, and provide a little information about them.
I’d like to start with this one: CBU-AM 690. This site has a very unique location, located right on (and in) the water of Richmond, BC. This is a class B signal, now running at 25,000 watts ERP after a fire brought them down from 50,000 watts. It doesn’t seem to affected them much, as this station gets out better than most of the other AM signals in Vancouver BC thanks to the unique location. Another thing I find fascinating about this location is how close you are able to get to the towers. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I was close enough to notice that my phone had no service, whereas getting reception is no problem 100 or so feet away from the towers.
Feel free to post some of your own if you’d like. I’ll try do post more in the future as well.
