Tower trouble for KTRS and the Cardinals

A storm wednesday night has left KTRS 2 towers short of a full DA.

They will reduce power at night to 1,250 watts ND. Normaly they would run 5,000 watts with a DA that points west.

KTRS expects it will be several months before replacement towers can be in place.

MLB's Cardinals moved to KTRS this year from KMOX. They also took an ownership interest in the station.

WIL-AM array at I-255 and IL Rt 3 is one tower short also; lost the second-from-north tower

the KTRS towers were abouto 430 ft, 4-sided self-supporting, will no doubt be replaced with guyed towers at all 4 locations

looking at the night pattern, approximately the same pattern should be obtainable on 2 towers, the only reason for 4 towers in two pairs was for a slightly larger lobe north than south on nights

but rather than try to cobble up a 'new' night pattern, they will no doubt stay with 1250 watts ND at night

Does anyone know if the towers have been rebuilt. KTRS nighttime signal was largely absent here in Northern Illinois after the storm damage....but recently it's been back.
