Town Square Media is still laying off people

well i am gonna to reveal that I was working for TSM just got laid off I was working on the live on location crew.

It seems it's a bad time in Radio

I am sorry you got laid off ...Like I said prior, NOBODY is safe right now. I don;'t give a rats ass if you've been there 2 months or 20 years. I was actually shocked by a few names that got the axe prior. There's one person at TSM that I'm shocked that SHE didn't get the axe. I won't mention HER name, but she's terrible on the air...I'm sure nice in person.

I fully agree reporter I had a feeling this was about to happen, there undergoing so many changes cutting back big time.

The way radio is going there only will be program directors left to run the entire station it's crazy how much changes they have made for this past year.

for me I am just gonna sit back wait a few years see if I can get myself back in the radio biz depending on the circumstances.

Moody Exits Townsquare: Townsquare Media's VP/Country Bob Moody has left the company. Moody's long career in radio first focused on Country in 1985, and includes 10 years as PD of WPOC/Baltimore, six years with McVay Media, and nine years as VP/Programming for Regent. He moved to Townsquare in 2010 with that company's purchase of the Regent group. A 2007 Country Radio Hall of Fame inductee.

Been away from the board for a while, things in radio not getting any better by the sound of it..for those trying to get into the business, don't give up, sorry radio101 that you got let go...pretty bad when they start letting interns go...seems the whole world is this way

oldies4ever :'(

yeah never give up keep trying but the problem is there is a list of people trying to get in but the radio industry is changing completely digital where as few people are needed to run the boards , and few people to go out and promote the station when it can be done via the internet.

soon all of radio will be limited a certain amount of jocks maybe 3 at the most some stations got way too many jocks to begin with I think there starting to realize this and cut cut cut....

computers are taking over the radio world as we know it, soon cd's will be outdated like records and 8 tracks.

all you need is a station market manager, secretary , digital management, one or two sales people a few jocks for the stations and one promotions person and walla your all set no more extra help needed.

live is no longer live anymore it's all voicetracked ... radio jobs will be very scarce and a long waiting list just like to get a new organ

This is the beginning now of the Budget cuts and there will be more both locally and nationally.

Bob Moody was Regent's VP/Programming. Townsquare has acquired other radio companies which had their own corporate structures and hired Kurt Johnson as Sr/VP of Programming. The company was probably getting a little top-heavy in corporate programming management or, perhaps, Kurt Johnson wants to bring in his own people.

again? I only got laid off one other time and that's when i was a car salesman which I was no good at but still I think there are ditching the part timers at TSM going all full time. unless someone wanted me out on purpose who knows at this point it's no big deal. Radio can be slimy sometimes especially in this market.

I did what i was told to do, I did pretty good there loss not mine I am good person , I have a great radio voice and my adventures in radio is not over by far it will just take a few years since right now is the wrong time for anyone to be in radio your chances of being laid off are high no matter who you are or what you do.
