Townsquare gets Tuscaloosa

I cant speak for other Townsquare markets, but in Lafayette,LA the only 2 stations on a crowded dial with live talent at night are Townsquare run.

WTUG 92.9 Tuscaloosa (100KW C1) urban AC "WTUG 92.9"
WFFN 95.3 Coaling (17.5 KW C2) country "95.3 The Bear"
WDGM 99.1 Greensboro (3300w C3, CP for 6400W) sports radio "The Deuce", a semi-simulcast of WJOX-FM
WBEI 101.7 Reform (22KW C2) top 40 "B-101.7"
WTSK 790 Tuscaloosa (5KW days, 36w nights) urban gospel "The Truth"
-----------------
WDGM is the 'worst' signal in the bunch, rimshotting from the south. I'm guessing Townsquare will easily fiddle with that station, thanks to its reliance upon WJOX programming (heard up the dial on 94.5 with Birmingham commercials).

This has got to be a good thing for the Tuscaloosa stations. As a company, Cumulus is as bad, if not worse, than Clear Channel. And for any station to be able to get away from being under the thumb of Cumulus or Clear Channel has got to be considered a major positive. Those folks should be popping the champaign.

Amen, Pete.

Hope when Townsquare takes over operations, they will change the format of one of their stations and relieve T-Town of at least one Country outlet.

WTRR 95.3 FM
(Mainstream Rock)
(Tuscaloosa's Home For Real Rock)
(Real Rock 95.3 FM)

Now doesn't that sound cool to you?

It does to me, since they don't have a rock station right now.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. To make this change even cooler, they could open up the switch with these songs: For Those About To Rock, We Salute You by AC-DC or I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister. Those songs would be great openers for them to start with.

I forget — does the Bear lean classic country a little? If not, it's definitely ripe for a change, what with TXT being the monster it is, plus Catfish Country (again), and the two big Birmingham stations also available.

Anyone know about Townsquare? I've heard the name but know nothing of how they do business.

Anyone is better than Cumulus Satan.
