"Tracksmack" On The Ticket

I hear a lot of things about this locally based NASCAR/racing talk show that airs Saturday mornings. Has quite a following. Is it brokered?

Does it really have a large following? That's surprising to me. I concede that I don't "get" NASCAR, but the few times I have listened to this show it sounds very amateurish. KTKR airs Fox Sports Radio's Raceday on Fox earlier in the morning, and it is a much better product in my opinion.

Raceday is a Nationaly Produced show. Tracksmack is a local product, that seems to pull in the same quality of big interviews as the national folks. I heard Danica on a few weeks ago, plus they always have NATIONAL folks on the show every week and they seem to be going to a lot of tracks. A buddy of mine just started advertising on the show and it is all run by sponsor money and the host.

I listen because I am a huge race fan from South Carolina. You dont hear a Woman to much doing the sports thing and really dont hear to many women doing nascar, as host. I am hooked on this show and have heard them talk like they might become a syndication program. That would be cool to see a local from here get some credit.

As far as the sound, its young, fun, seems very current and it is not a bunch of talking heads talking facts, it seems to be more fan friendly and always makes me laugh. Bottom line is the gal hosting knows her stuff.

Thanks for the reply, Russ. I'll take your word for it.

The host's name is Dawn Murphy, by the way, and during the few times that I have tuned in it seems that all she talks about is how hot she thinks Dale Jr. is.

just wanted to give a view from a race fan. My wife and I listen as much as we can. We have friends and family outside of texas that listen to the show on the webpage. I am a 50+ year old man who has been aroind the sport my whole life and trust me, she has talent. shoot we hear her talk other sports to, she knows her stuff. They have her fill in on the station a lot for dj's wehn they are out.

the jr issue is more a joke with her co-host it seems, they like to egg her on and get her worked up. I have to admit and I dont get the jr deal, but my wife loves the kid. That is what is cool though is women seem to call in a lot and enjoy that. I think it is ironic you point htat out though when really all sports radio seems to be in this town is pigheadded men talking about women all day. We enjoy the show. She has great interviews with drivers form nascar and indy and the trucks a lot. They seem to know her and have fun. not bad for a non race town. it might be hard to be objective if you dont get nascar and if you think that raceday is the standard to live up to. that is the problem i think is all those shows sound the same. tracksmack seems to be very different. but it might be just me and my opinion. I say give her and the show a shot. cool to see a woman do the boys stuff

Actually, Dawn rose from phone screener to executive producer at Border Media's KTSA. After Border laid her off, she came over to Ticket.
