Tracy Austin leaves KRBE!

According to allaccess.com, Tracy Austin is leaving KRBE for DMG in Australia, here's the article.
Tracy Austin Resigns KRBE PD Post, Heading To Brisbane To Program NOVA 106.9

SHOCKER!!! CUMULUS Top 40 KRBE/HOUSTON PD TRACY AUSTIN has resigned her post, effective at the conclusion of her contract at the end of AUGUST, and she has accepted the PD post at DMG RADIO AUSTRALIA's Top 40 and market leading NOVA 106.9/BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA. AUSTIN replaces ADAM WILLISCROFT, who was promoted to the PD post at DMG sister NOVA 96.9/SYDNEY.

"In our international search for the best candidate for the job we were thrilled to secure TRACY's talents. She is a world-class programmer with a great track record and breadth of experience, said NOVA 106.9 GM SEAN RYAN. "TRACY was attracted to NOVA because of NOVA’s reputation for innovation, fun and rule breaking. She is also well aware of Nova’s pioneering ‘Never more than 2 ads in a row’ concept, which other networks around the world are now following."

AUSTIN told ALL ACCESS, "I have been watching DMG's NOVA stations for years. They invented `Less Is More' with their `never more than 2 ads in a row' strategy! I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to gain international experience with such an innovative, creative company! DMG's emphasis on protecting the brand and cultivating talent is the perfect venue for the next step in my radio career. NOVA is a radio oasis for creativity, innovation, strong localism and the chance to live in BRISBANE was too good to turn down. I can’t wait to become a QUEENSLANDER.

"It's also been a great 4 and a half years here at KRBE. I'm very proud of the staff and everything we've accomplished. In spite of a major change in morning drive, we've performed consistently in our target demos over the past year. With the help of JAN JEFFRIES and the support of CUMULUS, I know APD/MD LESLIE WHITTLE and the staff will carry on the great KRBE tradition!"

That's very interesting. I wonder what other surprises lie in store for that station...

I for one would welcome her as Australia has been crying out for someone who can put a different spin on CHR wars. However, having said that, I think she should have gone to Sydney as NOVA Sydney is in a bit of trouble.

Rats off the sinking ship??? I've worked for Clear Channel in all size markets and contrary to popular belief, have had no problem at all. In fact the 2 best gigs I've EVER had were CC stations....but I'd think long and hard about taking a job with Cumulus these days.

I had a friend call me. Seems more rats are trying to desert the ship as well. Bobby "Slam" Dunkin is attempting to head to KDKB as well. Everyone is looking for a way out... except the KLOL leftovers.

Aaah, don't be surprised what you see there about August 1st.

So much money, so many decision makers with unlimited authority thousands of miles removed from the issues.
But hey, never let common sense and logic interfere with your ability to make a decision, right?
