Hey John, hope you enjoy the warmer climate. I would love to get some currents from the Daytona and Gainsville/Ocala area I used to live and work on air in the Central Florida area in the late 90s and early 2000's but can never seem to have time to visit to Aircheck those markets anymore. Let me know if you see anything you would like and we will set up a tape trade after the first of the year.

OP---

You get WVYB from the Villages?!?! Nice---you must have a good outdoor antenna.

How about AM?? WVLG has quite a reputation....too bad they didn't stick to adult standards/MOR; the music they play now can be heard on other stations, especially FM, outside of the oldies block & the overnights. Considering their target demo, I can't understand what they are aiming for.

cd

i forgot to mention i have XM radio here too so all fo the XM channels i can record.
WVYB is DX from here... no outdoor antenna's aloud here, so this is just with a 6 foot telascoping antenna on a sony boombox. outdoor is better but i've gotten WVYB inside too.
AM is kinda tricky here. it is not so easy to get stations.
but WFLF has plenty of static but listenable, WDBO comes in well (though tha'ts on FM now too) WVLG is evolving so it seems.
WRZN has slight wiseling static, sad to see that is no longer Soft AC/Standards/Oldies.
I should do an AM scann from here too just to see what i can get. I've done some scanning around but not ID'd all the calls.
At least here there isn't any station that I know of broadcasting in HD, so anolog AM should sound better.
John

Update. If you request DX stations include a few backup locals plese. The best DX for me time is probably March onward.
There are a few exceptions that seem to make it in no matter what and I will list those below.
95.1 WAPE
101.5 WPOI
102.9 WXXJ
104.5 WXYV.
Please note: though they make it in a lot of times, they come in better (no fading, with clearer reception March onward.
The list below isn't so easy to pull in at any point. butI've gotten them clear enough to record sometimes.
94.9 WTNT (Tallahassee, FL)
95.3 WXCV
96.3 WXOF (Yankietown, FL)
100.7 WMUV (Brunswick, GA)
101.5 WSOL (Brunswick, GA)
102.7 WHKR (Rockledge, FL)
103.3 WVYB (Holly Hill, FL)
104.1 WGLF (Tallahassee, FL)
106.9 WKZY (Cross City, FL)
Bassed on my experience so far at least... December throu Febuary is better for tampa. Jacksonville and Ga and the others are best left til after March 1st. Every night is different, and I haven't done a lot of DX in the welll what you call winter down here I guess? lol.
I do have tapes and stuff of some of the stations, so if you'd be willing to settle for what I've recorded already that can be an option. All the stuff I've recorded for myself has a live DJ (I dont normally record jockless formats. The exception being WDUV in Tampa.
Here are some of the AM's I know without a doubt I can get.
540 WFLF (some static)
640 WVLG (Recievable best!
720 WRZN a slight wissle in background
780 WLBE
1410 WQBQ (comes in, then has a horible noise which blocks the signal for a bit then it comes back) .
Check
