Traffic question

Most of the Spanish language stations.

Also, XM does on its continuous SD traffic station.

I have heard border reports once in awhile by the morning announcer on beleive or not KECR They also have live up to the minute traffic reports by the CHP with no commercial crap ;D

I think he was interested in regular broadcast stations in San Diego, not XM.

Thanks for clearing that up, Garrett.

A couple of times when I'm home early ... I watch NBC39 or KGTV afternoon news .... imagine the fun of watching traffic reports -- and I wonder how many viewers tune in at work? Radio remains the best avenue for traffic service, XM and Sirius included.

Bob, I bet you remember (before Tuesday even) how bad traffic is on the 5, 15, 805, 905, 78, 76, 101, 395, 8, 163, ..........

I might be mistaken, but didn't Saul Levine try all traffic on his 1650 kc in LA a few years ago? Obviously it did not take; if all traffic all the time won't hit in LA, it won't hit.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
In Lubbock TX, that would sound something like this:

"All Traffic all the time. Now the latest.... It's all clear.... (spot break) It's still all clear.... (spot break) Still Clear (spot break), etc.... etc..."

You get the picture!
;D

Yep, that's right. All traffic in the upper band. It had a following: cab, delivery ... the station was heard in Texas as well.

Clarification please, you mean Mr. Levine's 1650 was heard clear to Texas? I guess that shouldn't surprise me, I have gotten some high band Texas stations out here. However it does open up the possibility of a larger regional approach, there's no reason an all traffic format couldn't feed to many different areas, SF, LA, SD, etc. Might make it a somewhat more interesting format. For now its somewhat more interesting than WWV but not much.

That was in 1998 or 1999, driving from Austin to Houston in the dead of night. I was "looking" for Art Bell on the late night (it must have been 2 or 3 a.m.). There the station was, 1650 "loud and clear" with some fade. Summer time ....

That was when the X-band was starting out ... your results may vary ....
