Traffic Services, etc.

Considering relocation, I am curious to find out: what companies do traffic/news/sports/weather reporting for what stations out in Washington, and from where? Are they AFTRA or WGAE shops? Or do the stations actually do their own such reporting? Is this a better fit for the Seattle-Tacoma board?

Thanks.

I believe Metro is only "outside" service in this market. I lost track of who owns what ... I believe CBS has one and Clear Channel has one ... and I'm thinking Metro is owned by Clear Channel now?

I think all stations that do traffic use Metro at least in the off-hours should they do traffic coverage at all in the off hours (KOMO, KIRO for example...where the music stations tend not to do traffic on weekends). Otherwise, KOMO and KIRO each have airborne person or person(s) during drive times...KING-TV also does their own airborne. Beyond that, all TV news and all morning drive tend to have a "team" person who presents the traffic during those morning shows...and in most cases those reports are derived from the state traffic flow maps, cameras, and audience phone-in tips.

LittleBoyBlue is pretty much on the money. Westwood One bought Metro Networks in 1999 and Metro became an AFTRA shop in 2000. KING-TV was still using a Metro employee for its "Traffic King" reports the last time I checked. Clear Channel launched Clear Traffic a few years ago. The Clear Channel stations in Seattle were once Metro clients until 2002 or 03, then went with their own people like Tracy Taylor, Kevin Ebi and Nick Reynolds.
