Tragedy in Terre Haute

There was a tragic accident in Terre Haute this past Thursday. Party Marty, who programs Crock 92.7, lost his 10 year-old son, Josh Combs. For those interested, there is an online guestbook where you can leave a message for Marty and his wife at www.tribstar.com under the obituaries page. Here is the link: http://www.legacy.com/tribstar/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=129900086

All five of the Crossroads family of radio stations, Crock 92.7, WBOW 102.7, WAXI 104.9, and both ESPN stations 1130 and 1300, will be simulcasting on Monday, July 20 from 6 am to 7 pm. During that time, they will be taking donations to help cover funeral expenses to help out Marty and his family. For those in Terre Haute, you can also go to any First Financial Bank location and make a donation.

Josh was truly a one-of-a-kind kid.

Very sad, very tragic. The hardest thing in life is loss of a loved one, especially a young child. Thoughts & Prayers are with Marty & family.

To Marty and the greater Crossroads family... Our prayers, thoughts and grief, along with you.... "Skip" at SCM (WIKY) in Evansville... :'(

Marty,we'll be praying for you and your family. I got to hear some of the broadcast today and it was very well done. I Understand that Midwest communications even helped out with getting the work out as well as WTWO, and WTHI-TV. Nice to see people pull together and help their fellow colleague. A+ to all!

I think it is absolutely AMAZING that the TH broadcasting community pulled together to help one of their own. IIRC, the total amount raised was over $11,000.

I did see that, in the course of one day, they managed to raise at least $11,000 dollars, although I haven't heard the final tally yet. That's unimaginable! Kudos to everyone in the Terre Haute area for helping out. Hi-99, The River, Mix-FM, The Valley, and, of course, all the folks at Crossroads all came together for Marty and his family. The TV stations helped out and so did the Tribune Star. Several local businesses chipped in, and so did many people from all over the country. One of the best things about having a relatively small community here in Terre Haute is that, when something horrible like this happens, everyone pulls together.

It's amazing to see that there really is such a thing as a family in radio.

I just read this on allaboutcountry.com yesterday. Terrible tragedy.

Never met Marty or any of his family. Only rarely listened to him on the air. But no matter who it is, something like this just hurts to read. My best to Marty and his wife.
